International Organisations are Almost Irrelevant, Says PM Modi in Podcast

PM Modi Podcast
In a podcast of American Scientist Lex Fridman, Prime Minister Narendra Modi talked about his journey, his life, international relations, role of international organisations, among other issues. Following are some of the excerpts from the Podcast.

Drawing lessons from COVID

PM Modi drew lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic, which exposed the vulnerabilities of every nation. He said, “Covid-19 has exposed the limitations of all of us. No matter how much we consider ourselves a great nation, very progressive, very scientifically advanced, whatever it may be, everyone in their own way, but in the times of Covid-19, we all came down to earth, every country of the world. And then it seemed that the world would learn something from it, and we would move towards a new world order. But unfortunately, the situation was such that instead of moving towards peace, the world disintegrated, a period of uncertainty came, and the war put it in more trouble.”

International Organisations

The Prime Minister slammed UN and other international organisations saying, they have become almost irrelevant in the current global order. He said, “The international organisations that were created have become almost irrelevant, there is no reform in them. Institutions like the UN cannot play their role. People in the world who do not care about laws and rules are doing everything, no one is able to stop them.”
He further added, “As I said earlier, the world is interdependent, interconnected…Everyone needs everyone, no one can do anything alone. And I see that in all the different forums I have to go to, everyone is worried about conflict. We hope to get relief from it very soon.”

Conflict with China

Speaking on conflict with China PM said, “Of course, differences are natural. When two neighboring countries exist, occasional disagreements are bound to happen. Even within a family, not everything is always perfect. But our focus is to ensure that these differences don’t turn into disputes. That’s what we actively work toward. Instead of discord, we emphasise dialogue, because only through dialogue can we build a stable cooperative relationship that serves the best interests of both nations”.

Relations with Pakistan

PM Modi reflected on India’s painful partition in 1947, and spoke about the tragic bloodshed and displacement that followed. He expressed disappointment that, despite India’s efforts for peaceful coexistence, Pakistan has repeatedly chosen hostility, engaging in proxy wars and fostering terrorism. Citing examples like Osama bin Laden’s refuge in Pakistan, he described the country as a global epicenter of terrorism.
“When I became Prime Minister, I specially invited Pakistan to my swearing-in ceremony so we could turn over a new leaf. Yet, every noble attempt at fostering peace was met with hostility and betrayal. We sincerely hope that wisdom prevails upon them and they choose the path of peace. I believe even the people of Pakistan long for peace because even they must be weary of living in strife and unrest, they must have grown weary of relentless terror where even innocent children are killed and countless lives are destroyed,” Modi said.

US President Donald Trump

PM Modi spoke about US President Donald Trump, who had called him a tough negotiator and described it as Trump’s generosity. He emphasised that just as Trump prioritises America, he prioritises India, always placing the nation’s interests first without seeking harm to others.
“I have observed President Trump both during his first term and now in his second run. This time, he seems far more prepared than before…He has a clear roadmap in his mind with well-defined steps, each one designed to lead him toward his goals,” PM Modi said.

Sunita William and Butch Wilmore to Return From Space on Wednesday After Nine Months Wait

ISS
Elon Musk’s SpaceX capsule delivered four astronauts to the International Space Station early on Sunday. This was part of a NASA crew swap mission that will allow a pair of stuck astronauts, Butch Wilmore and Sunita Williams to return home after starting for nine months on the orbiting lab.
The SpaceX capsule was launched on Friday from NASA’s Kennedy Space Centre in Florida. The SpaceX crew dragon capsule docked four new astronauts, representing the US, Japan, and Russia, to the International Space Station (ISS). These astronauts will spend the next few days, learning the station’s ins and outs from Wilmore and Williams.

The Nine Months Wait

The ISS already had a seven-member crew, which included Wilmore and William, both veteran NASA astronauts and retired navy test pilots who had remained on the station after problems with the Boeing Starliner capsule forced NASA to leave them back in space.
After waiting for nine months, Williams and Wilmore are scheduled to depart the ISS on Wednesday along with NASA’s astronaut, Nick Hague and Russian Cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov.
Sunita Williams told reporters earlier this month that she was looking forward to returning home to see her two dogs and family. “It’s been a rollercoaster for them, probably a little bit more so than for us,” said Williams.

Delhi Government Starts Verification Process for Ration Card Holders

Ration Card
The new BJP government in Delhi has started E-verification of ration card holders to weed out fraudsters. Under this process, the ration card holders will have to provide proof of possession of an Aadhaar number or authenticate their Aadhaar card with the ration cards.

Focus on Ration Card Holders

Various schemes by the Delhi government like the Mahila Samriddhi scheme (₹2500 per month to women), Ujjwala Yojana (Free LPG connections to promote clean cooking fuel) and Ayushman Bharat (health insurance cover up to ₹5,00,000 per family) already have an income limit for which residents of Delhi require a legitimate ration card. That is why the government has started the process of verifying the ration card of Delhi.
Many ration card holders in Delhi have biometric-based smart ration cards, which are linked to their Aadhaar card. But after 2013, the verification process, which is done every five years, did not take place.
This year’s verification process also aims to remove card holders who may have died or people who keep a ration card just for proof of residence. Delhi residents can use the mobile app ‘Mera E-KYC’ launched by the centre to verify the details from their home until March 31.

DMRC Soon to Transport Cargo to Reduce Vehicular Pollution

DMRC
Other than carrying passengers, the Delhi Metro will also soon be used to carry transport cargo. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with logistic service provider Blue Dart. This MoU will allow the transport cargo company to send parcels via Metro train during non-peak hours. It is the first of its kind initiative in the entire South Asia Pacific region, according to the Delhi Metro officials.

Cargo Transport in Phases

For carrying the cargo, the last coaches with minimal passenger movement will be used. Initial trials will be carried out for a few days on the blue line and later will be implemented for different lines in a phased manner.
The project aims to utilise the existing Metro capacity. The move will also reduce dependency on road transport by giving an alternative and reliable channel for movement of shipments. This will in turn reduce congestion and curb vehicular emissions.
Madrid Metro has also initiated a pilot project in collaboration with logistics partners to transport parcels via Metro rail. The move is set to reduce traffic and pollution. According to DMRC spokesperson, Delhi Metro is actively engaging with Madrid Metro to exchange insights and best practices in urban freight transportations.

IT Ministry Policy: ₹23,000 crore for Domestic Value Addition and Employment

Manufacturing
The IT ministry is set to decide the final shades of the electronics component incentive plan, an ambitious incentive policy for electronic component manufacturing within India. The policy will attract an outlay of around ₹23,000 crore, spread over six years. The aim is to further strengthen the domestic value of manufacturing after localising smartphone assembly within India. This scheme is a crucial step ahead of the production linked incentive (PLI) scheme for smart phone manufacturing, which is nearing its sunset.

Domestic manufacturing: Next Step

Currently, the local value addition in electronics manufacturing remains as low as 15 to 20%. This remains the case, despite being able to attract electronic companies like Apple and Samsung to localise some of their overall assembly within India. With this policy, the government is hoping to raise it to 40% by providing a subsidy on electronic component manufacturing. That is why a scheme that focuses on component manufacturing is considered an important second step.
The components targeted through the scheme include display module, sub assembly camera module, printer circuit board assemblies, lithium cell, enclosures, resistors, capacitors and others.
The electronics component incentive plan is also a crucial step towards creating employment.

Mumbai: Elderly Woman Loses Over Rs 20 Crore in Aadhaar Card Fraud Scheme

An 86-year-old Mumbai resident lost more than Rs 20 crore to cyber criminals who deceived her by impersonating police officials. Through their phone call, the criminals forced her to transfer large amounts of money to multiple accounts by threatening to frame her family in a money laundering case through misused Aadhaar identification. The fraudulent scheme lasted from December 26, 2024, to March 3, 2025, until the victim discovered the scam and notified police about the incident.
An unknown criminal ring contacted the victim by pretending to be a police officer and described how a bank account connected to money laundering activities utilised the victim’s personal details. The scammers threatened the elderly woman with legal consequences that would involve her daughter and family members. The fraudsters forced the victim to move funds by threatening to keep her in “digital arrest,” preventing her from communicating with others.

Fraudsters Arrested After Investigation

After realising that she had fallen victim to the scam, the woman approached the police and quickly initiated an investigation. During their probe, authorities tracked the stolen money to several bank accounts, including one belonging to Shayan Jamil Sheikh, one of the accused. Sheikh, a 20-year-old from Malad, was arrested after police discovered that he had withdrawn Rs 4.99 lakh from one of the fraudulent accounts.
In a significant development, the investigation revealed that Rajik Azam Butt, another 20-year-old from Mira Road, was linked to an international fraud network. Butt was found to have created a Telegram group consisting of 13 foreign nationals, through which he allegedly shared information about Indian bank accounts to assist in further fraudulent activities. Butt was arrested, though another suspect, Rayan Arshad Sheikh, managed to flee.

UIDAI Urges Public to be Cautious

The police uncovered that Butt played a crucial role in directing the stolen funds to international masterminds, helping facilitate the laundering of the money abroad. Investigators are now working to uncover the full extent of the operation and how many more bank accounts were used in the scam.
This case serves as a stark reminder to the public about the dangers of cyber fraud, especially involving personal identification information like Aadhaar. Authorities have urged people to remain cautious and not share sensitive details over the phone. Neither police nor Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) officials will request such information, and individuals who suspect misuse of their Aadhaar can track its usage through the myAadhaar portal to spot any unauthorised transactions.

Communal Disruption in West Bengal’s Birbhum, 21 Detained, Internet Suspended

Birbhum, West Bengal: Police announced on Saturday that following a communal disruption during Holi festivities in Sainthia, Birbhum district, twenty-one people have been detained. The incident took place on Friday evening when a group of young people celebrating with music was reportedly told to cease by members of another community. The disagreement escalated rapidly, resulting in stone-throwing between the two groups. Authorities reported that several people suffered minor injuries and received medical care.
To address the situation, law enforcement personnel were dispatched to the area to restore calm. Officials have confirmed that order has been reestablished.

Internet services suspended

As a safety precaution, the state government has implemented a suspension of internet services in Sainthia town and five nearby panchayat areas linked to the Sainthia police station until March 17. This measure, enacted in accordance with the Telecommunications Act of 2023, is intended to uphold public safety and prevent any further provocation of unrest.
The police acted promptly upon learning of the clash, arriving at the location and averting any escalation of tension. Officials have urged the community to remain composed and collaborate with law enforcement as efforts continue to return the area to a state of normalcy.

Communal Clashes in West Bengal: A Recurring and Alarming Trend

West Bengal witnessed similar communal clashes during Ram Navami, a pattern that has been repeating itself annually since 2018. The outbreak of violence this year was neither unexpected nor unprecedented, given that similar incidents occurred last year as well. From Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to the general public, there was an air of inevitability about the unrest. Days before the violence erupted, the Chief Minister had forewarned the people about the potential for trouble, yet little seemed to have been done to prevent or swiftly contain the disturbances.
Although the clashes were localised, their repetitive nature raises serious concerns about the growing communal discord in the state. It appears that religion and sectarian tensions have become deeply entrenched in the political landscape of Bengal. Observers note that both the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are engaged in what is being described as “competitive communalism”, leveraging religious divisions to further their respective political agendas.
Similar violence erupted on 30 March 2023 in Shibpur, Howrah district—the very location that witnessed clashes during last year’s Ram Navami celebrations. Soon after, disturbances were also reported in Rishra, Hooghly district, and Dalkhola, Uttar Dinajpur district. Video footage circulating on social media showed young men brandishing weapons while participating in the Ram Navami procession, prompting speculation that the violence may have been premeditated.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee condemns violence

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee condemned the violent incidents, stating, “In the name of Ram Navami, they are carrying guns and swords to incite violence. Did Lord Ram instruct them to bear weapons during the rally?” Her remarks were in reference to 19-year-old Sumit Shaw, who was later arrested in Munger, Bihar, for wielding a firearm during the procession. State intelligence sources corroborated Banerjee’s allegations that individuals from outside the state had been brought in to participate in the festivities, adding credibility to concerns about external influence in the unrest.
The recurring nature of such incidents underscores the urgent need for a comprehensive strategy to address communal tensions in West Bengal. Unless proactive measures are taken, the spectre of religious discord is likely to persist, further destabilising the region and deepening the divide between communities.

china vaccine heart attack
china vaccine heart attack
Vaccine for Heart Attack:

Stroke

(Nanjing University of Science and Technology (NJUST)

Cardiac Arrest

Heart Attack

Heart Attack

Supported by Ambuja Cements, this 3-day event, a health check-up camp was hosted, drawing the participation of 100 women for thorough medical assessments. Over three hundred and fifty CHOs, Ashas, and more than one hundred fifty medical professionals participated in the Campaign.
Senior Health experts from AIIMS Bathinda, ABS UK, ABSI India and Punjab Medical Council conducted a training session for regional level doctors practicing oncology, newly appointed Community Health Officers of Health and Wellness centers, and Government health officials focusing on the best practices and techniques in the field. A special segment of this event provided capacity building to Frontline Health workers, ASHA, ANMs and health volunteers to identify high risk signs and symptoms, teach self-breast examination techniques (including practical training on lump identification on breast prosthesis), early identification of cancer cases and recommendations for treatment.
The specialists were also present during the 1-day health check-up camp which was attended by over 100 women beneficiaries for a check-up. The frontline workers also got hands-on experience on identification and treatment methods to be used at the camp.
In Punjab, the estimated incidence of cancer cases rose from 39,521 in 2021 to 42,288 in 2024, reflecting a 7% increase, according to data from the Indian Council of Medical Research – National Cancer Registry Programme (ICMR-NCRP). Cancer is a serious health issue being neglected in rural communities with Breast Cancer being the highest incidence worldwide, including India. In 2023, Ambuja Foundation decided to introduce a cancer awareness program under its Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) umbrella. The foundation had launched its first awareness program in Chandrapur, Maharashtra in 2023 along with ABS UK ABS India and Tata Cancer Care training health workers, ASHAs and ANMS of the region for identification and risk assessment.
Ambuja Foundation has created a strong cadre of Sakhis and Health volunteers who have helped in improving health indicators in MCH and NCDs. The cadre has also played a major role in the fight against COVID-19. Ambuja Foundation aimed to launch a behavior change communication initiative to enhance cancer-related awareness in the rural communities through training health professionals on cancer interventions.
Talking about the initiative, Pearl Tiwari, CEO, Ambuja Foundation said, “We launched the Breast Cancer Awareness program in 2023 to create awareness among rural women that breast cancer is curable and early detection is important. We are grateful to oncologists, doctors and other health professionals of ABS, ABSI, AIIMS Bathinda and the Punjab Medical Council who trained our regional healthcare workers and Sakhis to further benefit the rural women and educate them. We hope to expand this program across our various locations, aiming to enhance awareness about breast cancer as we are committed to extend our support to rural people to foster healthier communities,”.
“Cancer is spreading rapidly, and there is a significant lack of awareness, particularly among rural communities. Breast cancer remains one of the leading health concerns, and initiatives like this, built on strong collaborations, are crucial in tackling this challenge. We are honoured to be part of this meaningful partnership with ABS UK, ABSI, and Ambuja Foundation. Together, we are working towards the common goal of increasing breast cancer awareness and improving healthcare outreach in underserved regions, said Prof. Rakesh Kakkar, Head of the Department of Community & Family Medicine at AIIMS Bathinda emphasized the urgency of addressing breast cancer in rural areas.
“We have been liaising and working with Ambuja Foundation in the area of raising Breast Awareness in the villages of India since 2022. Our first joint venture launched In Chandrapur in 2023 was a great success and we are delighted to visit Bhatinda in Punjab to carry on this work. It is a pleasure to work alongside ABSI and the medical fraternity of AIIMS. Breast Cancer is the commonest cancer in women worldwide and early diagnosis saves lives, so as a consultant Breast Cancer surgeon, I am extremely grateful to Ambuja Foundation for taking on this initiative,” says Dr (Miss) Leena Chagla, President of the Association of Breast Surgery UK. Miss Chagla, who is originally from Mumbai, is the first ever overseas President of the Association delighted that she is sharing her skills and expertise with her motherland.
“We at ABSI are privileged to be collaborating with AIIMS Bathinda, ABS and Ambuja Foundation to create breast cancer awareness in rural India. Nearly 65% of the Indian population even today lives in the rural areas. Their health and well-being is a huge challenge. We have come together to train doctors, nurses and ASHA workers to create campaigns for early detection and screening in rural India,” Dr. D.G. Vijay, President ABSI, Director & Breast Cancer Specialist HCG-AASTHA Cancer Center, Ahmedabad.
Ambuja Foundation’s health interventions have been highly appreciated by the district health and medical authorities due to its work for the past many years in bringing behavioral change in the communities. As part of the initiative, Ambuja Foundation works alongside local hospitals providing beneficiaries referrals for medical, surgical and radiation oncology treatment along with ensuring medical insurance schemes are available.
