MG Sewa (the community service arm of JSW MG Motor
India), in partnership with Delhi Police and the NGO Pahal, has empowered 50 women by training them in professional car driving under the ‘Wings to Fly’ initiative. This program focusses on leveraging driving skills to create an active and enduring income channel for these women. Implemented by PAHAL NGO, this initiative aims to create sustainable pathways for women economic independence through skill development.
The program not only provides training to these women but also offers a comprehensive support system to enable these women to get into the mainstream. These women are provided with infrastructure support by the Delhi Police and inculcated with healthy driving habits. Two cars from MG’s product line – Astor and Comet EV, were utilized to provide hands-on training and experience to these resolute women. The MG cars, with their
responsive handling, instilled confidence in these new drivers. The program has already achieved a significant milestone, with about 16% of women already securing employment opportunities with the Delhi Police.
Apart from Delhi Police, this initiative is witnessing encouraging recruitment responses from organisations like BluSmart and Surekha. To diversify the employment potential of these women, multiple opportunities that require driver’s services, such as valet services, are also being explored.
