Healthcare is a costly affair in our country in the present day. A couple of days spent at any good private hospital and you can be handed over a bill amounting more than Rs 1 lakh. But does that mean the underprivileged marginalised population living in remote rural areas will not get access to proper healthcare? In order to ensure that quality healthcare becomes accessible to all several business conglomerates and top corporate companies operating in India are focusing on this sector through their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. 1. Tata Group
The Tata Group of companies headquartered in Mumbai is India’s largest conglomerate, with products and services in over 150 countries, and operations in 100 countries across six continents. Following are some of their impactful healthcare initiatives.
Tata Motors – Arogya
Tata Motors’ flagship programme in healthcare domain is Arogya, an initiative designed to combat malnutrition among children aged 0 to 6 years. The initiative involves providing supplementary diets and supplements to address the nutritional needs of young children during their formative years. The programme also fosters behavioural changes within communities, particularly targeting young mothers and parents.
To further enhance the reach and impact of the Arogya programme, Tata Motors has implemented curative healthcare services including diagnosis, administration of generic medicines, and consultations. In FY 2023, Tata Motors allocated Rs. 3.38 crore for the project.
TCS – Health and Wellness
TCS has provided an integrated Hospital Management System and IT infrastructure at The Cancer Institute, Chennai. TCS has also provided support to integrate the Health Insurance Scheme with the National Medical Commission (NMC) dashboard to facilitate daily syncing of patient data and statistics. It has also been building new features including compliance with statutory requirements.
The Tata Medical Center in Kolkata, India, is a state-of-the-art centre for cancer research, diagnosis and treatment. TCS continues to support the Hospital Management System (HMS) at Tata Medical Center, Kolkata. TCS has provided IT support to TMC for their Pharmacy migration to ‘TATA 1mg.’ TCS’ transformations at Tata Medical Center, Kolkata and Cancer Institute, Chennai facilitated more than 117,600 new patient consultations in FY 2023.
Tata Medical Centre – Mumbai
The Tata Medical Centre in Mumbai is a comprehensive centre for the prevention and treatment of cancer, and for research. It is a landmark on the global health map. Nearly 25,000 patients visit the clinics each year, not only from all over India but from neighbouring countries as well. About 60 per cent of patients seeking primary care are treated free of charge. TMC also creates awareness including in rural areas.
The Tata Memorial Hospital (TMH) was set up by the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust in 1941. It was placed under the control of the Indian government’s Ministry of Health in 1957. In 1962, TMH began operating under the government’s Department of Atomic Energy. In 1966, TMH was merged with the Indian Cancer Research Institute and renamed the Tata Memorial Centre (TMC).
In 2002, TMC set up the Advanced Centre for Treatment Education and Research in Cancer (ACTREC) in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai. Spread over 60 acres in Mumbai’s satellite city, ACTREC has a clinical research centre and a cancer research institute.
Tata Capital – Project Aarogyatara
Tata Capital, the financial services arm of the Tata Group, runs Project Aarogyatara- an initiative to eradicate curable blindness through inclusive primary eye care facilities. The purpose is to improve eye health of low-income group families, help diagnose eye disorders, provide timely treatment and increase awareness about regular eye check-ups. The project has been successfully implemented in the states of Maharashtra, Bihar, UP, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
Tata Power
Tata Power’s Integrated Community Health Care initiative aims at providing solutions for better health care. The company runs initiatives like Menstrual Health and Hygiene Management Programme, Mobile Medical Units in 17 states, access to clean drinking water through RO installations in government schools of Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Jharkhand, Odisha and Rajasthan.
Tata Steel Limited – MANSI
With an aim to address the problem of maternal and infant mortality in rural India, Tata Steel Limited runs an initiative ‘MANSI’ (Maternal & Newborn Survival Initiative) which reduces mortality among neonates and infants by enhancing the capacity of Government health volunteers (ASHAs/Sahiyas) in the Home Based Newborn Care (HBNC) system.
Tata Steel, the National Health Mission (NHM), American India Foundation (AIF) and the Society for Education Action and Research in Community Health (SEARCH) – the pioneer of HBNC in India – have collaborated for the implementation of this project in public-private partnership. The project is being implemented in 12 blocks across Jharkhand and Odisha.
2. SBI
State Bank of India is the country’s largest commercial bank in terms of assets, deposits, branches, customers, and employees. The focus areas of the Bank’s CSR activities include Rural and Slum area development, Health Care and Sanitation, Education, Environment Sustainability, Tribal Welfare, Empowerment of Women and Senior Citizens and supporting sports and athletes.
SBIF Jivanam
SBIF Jivanam is the healthcare vertical of the Foundation, set up to make healthcare accessible and affordable for the vulnerable sections of society. SBIF Jivanam is committed to making a significant difference in the lives of underserved communities by focusing on the themes of Primary Healthcare, Cancer Care, Palliative Care, Eye Care, Infrastructural support, Mental Health, Organ Donation and Technology & Innovation Support.
SBIF Sanjeevani
Sanjeevani is an initiative to provide primary healthcare services at the doorstep of communities from rural, tribal and remote areas through a mobile medical unit and a team of medical professionals. In 2022-23, SBI Foundation has deployed 30 mobile medical units (29 in rural tribal, 1 in urban slum), to enhance access to healthcare services in remote areas across 7 States. The coverage of Sanjeevani so far is in 18 States and 2 Union Territories.
Project Eye Care
This initiative in partnership with Madhav Netralaya is providing medical equipment support by setting up an advanced eye OPD unit and conducting eye care camps for industrial workers, small and marginal farmers, people below the poverty line and ESI card holders of the Hingna Industrial Belt in Nagpur, Maharashtra. Cataract surgeries for marginalised and vulnerable rural communities in Jharkhand, and providing eye screening facilities to beneficiaries from poor financial backgrounds, suffering from preventable blindness in Mumbai, Maharashtra have been performed.
India Health Alliance
SBI Foundation launched India Health Alliance (IHA), a collaborative healthcare programme to support the Government of India in its efforts to combat current and future healthcare challenges in the country. To catalyse this initiative, United States Agency for International Development (USAID) India and Xynteo India joined as partners. The prime focus of IHA has been on combating the COVID-19 healthcare pandemic in India.
Anugraha
SBI Foundation partnered with Dean Foundation for this initiative towards providing hospice and palliative care, geriatric support and rehabilitation services for seriously ill and bed-bound patients in rural areas of Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.
Save Little Hearts
The project in partnership with Genesis Foundation, provided financial support for heart treatment of 26 children from marginalized families diagnosed with congenital heart diseases (CHD) in the states of Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu for a period of 1 year from 2022 to 2023.
TB Mukt Gujarat
In partnership with R K HIV & Aids Research & Care Centre, this project aims to ensure early detection of TB, thereby containing the spread in localities/ communities of Surat, Dang, Bharuch and Vyara Districts of Gujarat.
SBI Shravan Shakti
SBI Foundation has provided financial assistance for cochlear implant surgeries of underprivileged children born with a speech and hearing impairment under the ADIP Scheme of the Government of India. This cochlear implant project has been implemented by Ali Yavar Jung Institute of Speech and Hearing Disabilities (AYJNISHD).
Mauli Seva- Medical Facilities for destitute women
This is an initiative by SBI Foundation for providing emergency medical facilities, education and livelihood to destitute women and children in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra being implemented in partnership with Mauli Seva Pratishthan.
Project Sparsh Hospice
This is an initiative in partnership with the Rotary Club of Banjara Hills (Hyderabad)) which aims to provide free home-based palliative care services to 1700 terminally ill cancer patients from socio-economically vulnerable families for a period of 25 months from 2022 to 2024.
3. Infosys
Infosys is the flagship company of India’s mighty ITES ( Information Technology Enabled Services) sector. Along with sustained financial performance, the company was an early adopter of Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives. Infosys carries out its CSR activities in India through the Infosys Foundation.
Vision for a blind-free India
The Foundation’s association with Sankara Netralaya aims to provide financial aid to the economically weaker sections of society. Apart from converting Lady Willingdon Hospital into the Jaslok Community Ophthalmic Centre and purchasing Heidelberg Retinal Angiogram II to diagnose retinal problems in diabetic patients, the Foundation has initiated the building of a new community hospital which aims to offer 12,000 free surgeries every year and conduct training programmes.
Caring and comforting the ill
Joining hands with the Swami Vivekananda Integrated Rural Health Centre (SVIRHC), the Foundation has contributed towards the eradication of leprosy. Over the years, SVIRHC has treated 3,747 leprosy patients, 11,083 tuberculosis patients, and conducted free eye operations for 16,869 patients. The Foundation has also funded the BMCDT Bone Marrow Registry, Bengaluru, to establish a global bone marrow donor registry in India.
Personalized treatment for psychiatric and neurological problems
Infosys Foundation has offered financial assistance to the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), an innovative institution offering comprehensive care service for patients suffering from psychiatric and neurological problems.
Maternity and Child Care Hospital
Infosys Foundation announced the inauguration of a 100-bed maternity and child care hospital in Kanakapura Taluk, Ramanagara District of Karnataka in collaboration with the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare Services, Karnataka in February, 2023.
Through this collaboration, the erstwhile Government Maternity Hospital in Kanakapura Taluk has been rebuilt and the new hospital has facilities including oxygen and medical gas pipelines, a sophisticated fire protection alarm system, meticulously designed electrical and plumbing work, an HVAC system and underground water reservoir.
Lab Built on Wheels
In June, 2022 Infosys Foundation launched four cost-effective diagnostic laboratories named ‘Lab Built on Wheels’, with an objective to curtail spread of communicable diseases in the rural areas of Karnataka. The four mobile labs have been equipped with a medical unit, pharmacy, and a minimal invasive emergency care unit. The company has joined hands with Rotary Bangalore Southwest Charitable Trust (Rotary Trust) for the project.
AIIMS Partnership
In 2015-16, the collaboration between Infosys Foundation and AIIMS began with the establishment of a chair professorship in oncology aimed at supporting faculty scientists and students in pursuing research in this field. Subsequently, the Foundation included obstetrics and gynaecology. In 2019-20, the Foundation constructed an 800-bed Dharamshala at the AIIMS Jhajjar campus, within the premises of the National Cancer Institute.
In 2021, AIIMS introduced a new MCH Block on the hospital premises in New Delhi. This block encompasses 455 beds dedicated to the inpatient care of obstetrics, gynaecology, and pediatric patients. It includes 72 Intensive Care Unit beds, 17 Operation Theatre beds, and two beds exclusively for In Vitro Fertilization (IVF).
Type 2 Diabetes Reversal
Infosys Foundation has partnered with the Association for Diabetes and Obesity Reversal (ADORE) to empower Type 2 Diabetes patients to adopt healthy lifestyles and make dietary modifications that enable them to achieve and sustain normal blood sugar levels without medication. The Foundation has facilitated the establishment of two Diabetes Reversal Counseling Centers in Pune and Nagpur in November 2022 and December 2022, respectively. In August 2022, the Infosys Foundation Diabetes Care Programme was launched in collaboration with ADORE. As of March 4, 2023, 568 registered Type 2 Diabetes patients have enrolled in the lifestyle modification programme.
4. Cipla Limited
Established in 1935, Cipla is a global pharmaceutical company that is committed to making medicines accessible and affordable. Cipla is the third-largest pharma company in India and the third-largest in the private pharma market of South Africa. Cipla carries out the majority of its CSR initiatives through Cipla Foundation.
Palliative Centre
The Cipla Palliative Care & Training Centre (CPC) in Pune was established in 1997 to respond to the needs of cancer patients and their families in and around Pune. The Centre provides palliative care through in-patients, out patients and home care palliative services at the centre and also at OPDs in certain hospitals. The project also supports training health workers and professionals in palliation care.
Pulmonary Rehabilitation Centres
Pulmonary rehabilitation is a programme of education and exercise that helps manage breathing problems, increases stamina and decreases breathlessness in patients with Chronic Respiratory illnesses. The programme provides dedicated cardiopulmonary, physiotherapy, nutritional guidance as well as psychosocial support. Cipla Foundation supports five such centres in public and charitable hospitals in Jaipur, Mumbai, Kolkata, Lucknow and Pune.
Public System Partnership for Maternal and Newborn Child Health in Maharashtra
The Public System Partnerships (PSP) programme focuses on improving the health of expectant mothers, new mothers, and newborn babies in the urban slums of Mumbai and its surrounding seven Municipal corporations by partnering with the system.
Mobile Healthcare Vans
The company supports operations of Mobile Healthcare Units through HelpAge India in remote locations. With a medical doctor, a pharmacist, and stock of essential medicines, MHUs extend regular free-of-cost out-patient services across 100+ villages in Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra and Karnataka.
Supporting Patients with Thalassemia
Cipla Foundation provides support for medication, blood transfusion and Bone Marrow Transplants (BMTs) for children from low-income families.
For hearing-impaired students
Cipla Limited announced its partnership with Training and Educational Centre for Hearing Impaired (TEACH) in November 2023 for a programme aimed to inspire and motivate hearing-impaired students, preparing them for the corporate world. The company conducted a pilot internship programme for TEACH students in 2022 and in 2023 expanded the programme for more number of students offering a three-month internship at Cipla.
5. ICICI Bank
ICICI Bank was incorporated in 1994 as a part of the ICICI group. In 1999, ICICI became the first Indian company and the first bank or financial institution from non-Japan Asia to be listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Healthcare is a key focus area of ICICI Bank’s CSR initiatives.
Contribution of Rs 1,200 crore to Tata Memorial Centre
In June, 2023, ICICI Bank announced a commitment to contribute Rs 1,200 crore towards Tata Memorial Centre, a premier institution that runs cancer treatment and research centres across the country. The bank donates the money from its CSR funds to set up three new buildings spanning over a combined area of 7.5 lakh square feet and equip them with state-of-the-art machines at Tata Memorial Centre’s centres at Navi Mumbai in Maharashtra, Mullanpur in Punjab and Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. ICICI Foundation will implement the initiative, which is likely to be completed by 2027.
ICICI Foundation has committed to setting up an ‘ICICI Radiation Oncology Block’ at the hospital’s Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research & Education in Cancer (ACTREC) at Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra. The Foundation will also set up two ‘ICICI Paediatric and Haematological Oncology Block’ at Tata Medical Centre’s Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre at Mullanpur in Punjab and Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.
Supporting Treatment
Through ICICI Foundation, ICICI Bank is providing ambulances, blood donation and blood transport vehicles, dialysis machines and other health equipment to government and charitable hospitals. The Bank has also been providing support to underprivileged individuals for cancer care, bone marrow transplant, eye check-ups and organ transplants. Since inception, over 1.5 million individuals have been supported for availing various treatments through our interventions at 400 hospitals.
In fiscal 2023, 800,000 individuals were positively impacted through the Bank’s healthcare initiatives in 200 hospitals. ICICI Foundation has also conducted eye care camps and spread awareness in several states. Additionally, financial support has been extended for surgeries for underprivileged children with congenital heart disease.
Organ transplant
ICICI Foundation launched an organ transplant project as a pilot initiative during fiscal 2023. The initiative involves providing support for transplantation and undertaking awareness drives. For this purpose, grant assistance was provided to the Transplants Help the Poor Foundation in Mumbai, Maharashtra. ICICI Foundation has also supported Maharaja Yashwant Rao Hospital in Indore, Madhya Pradesh for bone marrow transplants in fiscal 2023.
Blood Donation and Transportation
ICICI Foundation has started providing vehicles for transporting blood to bridge this gap. In fiscal 2023, 14 blood collection vehicles and 16 transportation vehicles were provided to hospitals. These vehicles, which are smaller in size compared to large patient vehicles, are equipped with blood storage facility to assist organisations in areas where large patient vehicles cannot travel.
Dialysis Support
ICICI Foundation has been providing dialysis machines to hospitals that treat kidney patients at a nominal or no cost in the country, particularly in the smaller cities. ICICI Foundation is now expanding the programme by reaching out to more government hospitals. It has supported nearly 300,000 dialysis sessions since fiscal 2022.
6. Sun Pharma (Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.)
Founded in the year 1983, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. popularly known as Sun Pharma is one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world. CSR at Sun Pharma is focused on supporting the needy and underprivileged communities, the priority areas being health, education, drinking water and sanitation.
Malaria Elimination
Sun Pharma’s Malaria Elimination Demonstration Project (MEDP) is a Public-Private partnership between the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Government of Madhya Pradesh (GoMP), and the Foundation for Disease Elimination and Control of India (FDEC India), which was established by Sun Pharma as a not-for-profit entity. Culminated in 2021, the MEDP contributed in the reduction of indigenous malaria cases in villages of the Mandla district of Madhya Pradesh.
Mobile Healthcare Units
The company’s Mobile Healthcare Units (MHUs) deliver primary healthcare services to people located around their manufacturing plants in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Sikkim to the vulnerable populations. The company has Contributed Rs 30.12 Million during the FY23 with the project being implemented by Sun Pharma Community Healthcare Society.
Cancer Sanatorium
The company is funding the setting up of a Cancer Sanatorium Institute at Wadala in Mumbai. The facility is designed to accommodate patients for chemotherapy and radiation treatment in a clean, safe, and aesthetically pleasing environment. During the FY23, the company has contributed Rs 150.00 Million towards this project, which has been implemented by Shantilal Shanghvi Foundation.
Eye care, TB care
The company undertakes a range of projects in the vicinity of its business operations such as organising school eye check-ups and distributing spectacles to students, helping to identify visual impairments that can affect their academic performance, upgrading healthcare infrastructure in rural areas, organising blood donation camps and providing educational resources and nutritional ration kits to TB patients and their families. This project was implemented by ETI Foundation. The company has contributed Rs 4.26 Million during the FY 23.
7. ONGC
ONGC is the largest crude oil and natural gas Company in India, contributing around 75 per cent to Indian domestic production. ONGC contributed Rs 100 crore to the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM CARES Fund) on 31 March 2023.
As per directives of NitiAyog, ONGC has identified 20 Aspiration districts and is committed to raising the social and economic condition of these districts by implementing strategic CSR projects.
Multi-Speciality Hospital at Sivasagar, Assam
Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri recently inaugurated ONGC’s Multi-Speciality Hospital named Siu–Ka–Pha Hospital in Sivasagar, Assam. The hospital has been built at a cost of Rs 483 crore. The Hospital has been funded by ONGC under CSR and will be managed and operated by Aurangabad-based Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Vaidyakiya Pratisthan (BAVP). The hospital is expected to improve the healthcare services for the people of upper Assam as well as other parts of the Northeast.
The multi-speciality hospital at Demow in Sivasagar district has been built with an investment of Rs 483.19 crore, and is expected to provide healthcare services to over 1 lakh patients annually. The state-of-the-art hospital, spanning over 35 acres, has 300 beds and a team of 70 specialised doctors. It has modular operating theatres, a critical care unit and telemedicine facilities, connecting patients with specialist healthcare providers nationwide.
National Cancer Institute, Nagpur
At Nagpur, ONGC has supported the setting up of National Cancer Institute, a 455 bedded quaternary care oncology centre. The institute will provide oncology treatment facility at affordable rates to the general public. The radio diagnostic equipment and construction of the first floor and ground floor of the institute has been funded by ONGC (Oil and Natural Gas Corporation).
8. Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Limited
Apollo Hospitals was established in 1983 by Dr. Prathap C Reddy. As the nation’s first corporate hospital, Apollo Hospitals is acclaimed for pioneering the private healthcare revolution in the country. The Apollo Foundation works across the country, serving people in urban, rural, and tribal settings.
Total Health
Total Health CSR initiative aims to provide holistic healthcare for entire communities. The programme currently operates in the rural areas of Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh, and the tribal districts of the Amrabad Tiger Reserve in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Billion Hearts Beating Foundation
The Billion Hearts Beating Foundation is a not-for-profit organization that aims to touch lives with empathy, dignity, and respect. Three projects define its work: Project Aushad provides medical assistance to the elderly in homes and organizes health camps; Project Prashikshan conducts workshops on Basic Life Support for individuals engaged in public service; Project Suraksha equips healthcare workers with essentials to help save lives. The foundation also has critical care units in certain populated areas of public interest.
SACHi
Saving A Child’s Health initiative (SACHi) is a not-for-profit organization based on the philosophy that every child has an equal right to access quality healthcare. The initiative has helped children access quality heart-care at no cost. The organization also supports children’s homes with a periodic supply of medicines and supplements.
Apollo Remote Healthcare
The key focus of Apollo’s Remote Healthcare is both primary and preventive healthcare. Additionally there is focus on community health awareness, NCD screening and management, enhanced cancer screening, and nutrition-based interventions. As part of the programme, the company also runs Mobile Medical Unit, Digital Dispensaries, cancer screening, Tele-Emergency Services, Remote ICU care and TeleOphthalmology.
9. Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL)
Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) is one of the largest steel-making companies in India. SAIL produces iron and steel at five integrated plants and three special steel plants, located in West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Maharashtra.
The company’s extensive and specialised Healthcare Infrastructure has been providing specialized and basic healthcare to nearly 180 lakh people living in the vicinity of its Plants and Units from 2011 to 2023. In order to deliver quality healthcare at the doorsteps of the needy, regular health camps are being organised in various villages on fixed days for the people living in the periphery of SAIL’s Plants, Units and Mines.
Primary Health Centres
Over the years, SAIL has established 54 primary health centres, 12 reproductive & child health (RCH) centres, 17 hospitals and 7 super-speciality hospitals to provide modern health care to more than 30.60 million people. The hospitals have a total strength of around 4043 beds for the benefit of employees, their dependents and the peripheral population and are managed by around 4000 trained medical staff.
AIDS Control
SAIL has been implementing an AIDS awareness & control programme in partnership with the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare since 1999-2000. SAIL is also participating in other national health programmes like TB control, anti-malaria, leprosy eradication, etc.
The company also organises a number of health camps at various villages. Drives on immunisation, blood donation, etc., are also held on a regular basis. The purpose is also to bring about awareness on health-related issues. Specialists in the medical fields of gynaecology, cardiology, paediatrics, ultrasound, orthopaedics, etc., are also reined in to provide consultancy in the camps.
Mobile Medical Units
Mobile Medical Units have been provided by SAIL to leading NGOs to help elderly and needy people obtain medical care easily. During the FY 2022-23, regular Health Camps have been organized and 5 Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) extended quality healthcare to about 1,15,000 villagers at their doorsteps in peripheral areas of Plants, Units and Mines. 24 Primary Health centres at Plants exclusively provided free medical care and medicines to more than 90,000 patients, as per the company’s Annual Report.
For Divyangjan
On the ‘International Day of Persons with Disabilities’ on 3rd December, 2022, SAIL distributed assistive devices to Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan) across its Plants/Units and Corporate Office at New Delhi. SAIL has engaged Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) to undertake this Priority Programme under Corporate Social Responsibility.
Currently, SAIL supports various focused facilities dedicated for Divyangjan at its plant locations such as ‘School for Blind, Deaf and Mentally challenged children’ and ‘Home and Hope’ at Rourkela, ‘Ashalata Kendra’ at Bokaro, ‘Handicapped Oriented Education Program’ and ‘Durgapur Handicapped Happy Home’ at Durgapur, and ‘Cheshire Home’ at Burnpur.

Adani Foundation
The Adani Foundation, functioning as the CSR arm of the Adani Group, operates across 19 states and 5753 villages. Its efforts are aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. The foundation runs Mobile Health Care Units (MHCUs) across the nation, hospitals and clinics, and general as well as specialized health camps.
Gujarat Adani Institute of Medical Sciences
Gujarat Adani Institute of Medical Sciences (GAIMS) is the first Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) initiative between Government of Gujarat and the Adani Education & Research Foundation, part of Adani Group’s CSR initiative. GAIMS is a medical college and multi-specialty modern teaching hospital in Gujarat’s Kutchh district. GAIMS is managed by Adani Education & Research Foundation, under the umbrella of Adani Foundation.
Adani Hospital
In Mundra, Gujarat, the Adani Hospital is a 100-bed secondary care facility which provided essential services to over 46,000 outpatients and 1,800 inpatients during the last year. The Foundation also emphasizes village sanitation programmes, such as the one in Krishnapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, benefiting 18,000 families by promoting proper solid waste management and sanitary conditions.
Anaemia Control Programme
Addressing health issues prevalent in Raigad District, Maharashtra, the Adani Foundation initiated an Anaemia Control Programme in collaboration with Zilla Parishad. This programme includes nutritional care for children, awareness campaigns, capacity building, and training for women and adolescent girls from 16 villages. Other health initiatives in Dighi, Maharashtra, involve the establishment of a rural clinic, specialized health camps, and potable water provision, significantly impacting the health and well-being of the local population.
Rural Health Check Camps
Adani Foundation and Wockhardt Foundation ran a programme that provided primary healthcare to 18 villages of Tamnar in Chhattisgarh. MMU healthcare services included free doctor’s consultation, distribution of medicines, diagnostic tests and referral to other healthcare facilities.
In Dahej, Gujarat, the Foundation collaborates with government health departments and Gram Panchayats to organize Multi-specialty Health Camps, addressing health issues and providing basic screening facilities at doorsteps. The comprehensive eye camps in Kattupalli, Tamil Nadu, aim to identify and address preventable eye issues, providing better vision for the community. Similarly, in Hazira, Gujarat, Mega Multi-specialized Health Camps cater to the health needs of eight villages, benefitting over 2,400 people.
CSR of Ambuja Cements
Ambuja Cements, the cement and building material of Adani Group, under its CSR initiative restored the Mundwa Community Healthcare Centre in 2023.
Ambuja Cements through CSR initiatives empowers the villages of Bathinda, Punjab, through its transformative healthcare initiatives, which focus on both preventive and promotive aspects of healthcare, with a focus on women, children and adolescents. The initiatives have been implemented in collaboration with the local health department, Panchayat, ASHAs, Anganwadi workers and youth clubs.
Adani Wilmar Limited – Fortune SuPoshan Project
Adani Wilmar Limited announced the success of its Fortune SuPoshan Project during Poshan Maah (Nutrition Month) in September 2023. The project aims to combat malnutrition and anaemia. The project, initiated in 2016, focuses on enhancing the health and nutritional status of children under 5 years, women of reproductive age, and adolescent girls, benefitting vulnerable communities in Bundi (Rajasthan), Godda (Jharkhand), Raigarh (Chhattisgarh), Dhamra (Odisha), Haldia (West Bengal), and Tharad (Gujarat).
