Foundation Stone Laid for School and Library in Madhesh, Nepal with Indian Assistance

The foundation stone for a new school and library in Madhesh Province, Nepal, was laid on April 13, 2023. This event signifies the commencement of construction for the educational facilities supported by Indian financial assistance, as confirmed by the Consulate General of India in Birgunj.

The school and library are being developed at Shree Benga Sah Secondary School, situated in Prasauni Rural Municipality-2. The initiative is backed by a financial contribution of NRs. 33.2 million from the Government of India, underscoring the commitment to enhance educational infrastructure in the region.

The ceremony was jointly officiated by Devi Sahai Meena, the Consul General of India in Birgunj, and Mr. Binod Prasad Jaisawal, Chairman of Prasauni Rural Municipality. Their presence highlighted the collaborative effort between India and Nepal in promoting educational development.

Details of the Educational Infrastructure

The project will include the construction of two three-storeyed academic buildings that will accommodate classrooms and other essential facilities. These will encompass a library, a computer lab, science laboratories, as well as a canteen and kitchen, aiming to create a well-rounded educational environment for students.

This development initiative is designated as a High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP) and will be executed through the Prasauni Rural Municipality. The scope of this project reflects significant investment in community-focused educational resources that cater to local needs.

The foundation stone laying event reiterates the strong ties between India and Nepal, rooted in mutual cooperation across varied sectors. The partnership is characterised by continued assistance that aligns with the developmental goals of Nepal.

The statement from the Consulate General of India emphasised that the implementation of HICDPs is indicative of India’s commitment to bolster Nepal’s growth and development initiatives. This collaboration is intended to support the educational aspirations of Nepali youths.
