Weather Forecast: Rain, Snow, and Thunderstorms Across Multiple Regions on Wednesday

The CSR Journal Magazine

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast for rain, snowfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds in various parts of India on Wednesday. The western Himalayan region is anticipated to experience the most significant weather activity.

Rain and Snow in Jammu and Kashmir

According to the IMD, light to moderate rainfall and snowfall are projected for Jammu and Kashmir from March 10 to March 12. However, the intensity is expected to ease to isolated light rain or snow from March 13 to March 16. The weather system may also trigger thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds of 30 to 50 km/h across Jammu and Kashmir on March 10 and March 11.

Unsettled Weather in Neighboring Hill States

Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are also expected to experience variable weather, with isolated to scattered light rain or snowfall anticipated between March 10 and March 16. The IMD has issued warnings for thunderstorms with gusty winds in Himachal Pradesh on March 11 and 12, as well as from March 14 to March 16.

Possible Hailstorms in Northern Regions

Isolated hailstorms may occur in Jammu and Kashmir on March 10, while Himachal Pradesh might witness similar conditions on March 11 and 12, according to the weather agency.

Forecast for Other Northern Regions

In the broader northern region, Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh are likely to see isolated rainfall between March 14 and March 16. West Uttar Pradesh may experience light rain on March 15 and 16. Some areas in Rajasthan could also receive sporadic showers, particularly on March 14 and 15, accompanied by potential thunderstorms.

Conditions in Eastern and Central India

The IMD also forecasts unstable weather in eastern and central India. Scattered rain, thunderstorms, and lightning are expected in Odisha on March 10 and 11. Additionally, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh may experience similar conditions on March 13 and 14. Rain is anticipated in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim from March 10 to 13, while Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand could see showers from March 10 to 12. Bihar may also experience thunderstorms on March 11, 15, and 16.

Heatwave Conditions in Western India

Despite the impending rain and snow in certain regions, parts of western India are likely to endure heatwave conditions. The IMD has cautioned that isolated areas in Gujarat and northern Konkan could face heatwave to severe heatwave conditions on March 10 and 11, with rising temperatures also noted in West Rajasthan and Vidarbha.

Temperature Trends in the Western Himalayan Region

Meteorologists predict that maximum temperatures in the western Himalayan region may gradually decrease by 5 to 6 degrees Celsius over the coming week. Northwest India is expected to observe a gradual cooling trend following the initial days of this weather event.
