The CSR Journal Magazine

Following India’s impressive win against Pakistan in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Vice President Rajeev Shukla praised the team’s performance, calling the 61-run victory a significant achievement.

“Winning against Pakistan by such a huge margin, I think it is a huge achievement, and today I am fully confident that the way our boys played, we will win the World Cup as well. Sometimes Ishan Kishan performs, sometimes Abhishek performs, all the boys perform. So we have such a strong team that we will definitely win the World Cup,” Shukla told reporters.

Shukla highlighted that this win reflects the strength and depth of the squad, expressing his belief that India is on a path to capture the World Cup title. The match took place in Colombo, where Ishan Kishan’s half-century and a stellar bowling effort ensured India’s commanding position in the tournament.

Match Summary and Key Performers

In the match, India set a competitive total of 175 runs for seven wickets, bolstered by a strong batting display from Ishan Kishan, who scored 77 runs. Suryakumar Yadav contributed with a notable 32 runs.

Pakistan’s bowling performance saw Saim Ayub take three wickets for 25 runs, but it was not sufficient to contain the Indian innings. In response, Pakistan struggled, being bowled out for just 114 runs in 18 overs. Usman Khan was the standout performer for Pakistan, scoring 44 runs, while Shaheen Afridi added 23 runs not out.

India’s bowlers, including Axar Patel, Varun Chakravarthy, Hardik Pandya, and Jasprit Bumrah, each claimed two wickets, effectively dismantling the Pakistan batting lineup.

Group Stage Standings

With this victory, India maintains an unbeaten record, having won all three matches in Group A. The team’s strong start places them firmly at the top of the group. Conversely, Pakistan’s loss leaves them in third position with two wins and one defeat, while the USA holds second place with two wins and two losses.

Shukla noted the collaboration and talent within the team, emphasizing that different players step up in each game, reinforcing the belief that India has what it takes to achieve ultimate success in the tournament.
