Uttar Pradesh government is taking significant measures driven by the vision of transforming the state into a development leader. The Yogi government has emerged as a national model in both employment generation and the promotion of self-employment.
Under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s leadership, flagship schemes are empowering youth to launch their own ventures. This will fuel self-reliance and generating broader employment across the state.
Mukhyamantri Yuva Swarojgar Yojana
A key pillar of this framework is the Mukhyamantri Yuva Swarojgar Yojana, a scheme that reflects CM Yogi’s commitment to youth empowerment. Since its launch in 2018-19, the scheme has generated employment for over 2.5 lakh youth. It specifically targets educated youth between 18 and 40, encouraging them to pursue self-employment. The initiative has now become a model for other states to emulate.
Under the Uttar Pradesh Mukhyamantri Yuva Swarojgar Yojana (UPMYSY), the state government provides financial assistance of up to Rs 25 lakh to eligible youth for starting their businesses. Loans are provided at concessional interest rates, lower than market rates, and can be used for purchasing plant and machinery, raw materials, and other essentials. Applicants must be permanent residents of Uttar Pradesh, have passed at least high school, and should not be bank defaulters.
Over 31,300 applications approved
So far, more than 31,300 applications have been approved, with the government disbursing Rs 758.97 crore as margin money to support aspiring entrepreneurs. This initiative has significantly promoted small and medium-sized enterprises across the state, marking a shift towards sustainable, grassroots economic development.
To scale its impact further, the Yogi government is preparing to introduce significant reforms to the scheme. Proposed amendments include raising the maximum project cost limit by up to four times, offering interest-free loans, and rebranding the scheme under the CM Yuva Yojana.
These changes are under review and expected to be approved soon, potentially broadening the scheme’s reach and deepening its impact on youth entrepreneurship in Uttar Pradesh.
