UP CM Yogi Adityanath Meets Singapore High Commissioner Simon Wong in Lucknow

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a meeting on April 2, 2025, with Simon Wong, the High Commissioner of Singapore to India, at his official residence in Lucknow. The discussion revolved around strengthening collaboration in various sectors including investment, urban development, and infrastructure. CM Adityanath emphasised the importance of creating a shared vision for sustainable growth that aligns with both Uttar Pradesh and Singapore’s developmental goals.

In a statement on X, CM Adityanath described the meeting as “wonderful” and highlighted the potential benefits of increased engagement between the two entities. The discussions pointed towards fostering greater ties in skill advancement and mutual investments that could enhance economic opportunities for both regions.

The Chief Minister’s efforts to boost collaboration align with broader initiatives aimed at improving Uttar Pradesh’s attractiveness as an investment destination. Both leaders expressed optimism about future cooperative projects that could leverage Singapore’s expertise in urban planning and infrastructure development.

Development Initiatives in Lucknow

On the preceding day, CM Adityanath inaugurated 250 electric and CNG vehicles aimed at advancing waste management systems in Lucknow, reflecting the state’s commitment to environmentally sustainable practices. This initiative was introduced under the auspices of the Lucknow Municipal Corporation, signalling a tangible step towards better urban management.

During the flagging-off ceremony, the Chief Minister outlined the progress achieved in Lucknow over the past nine years. He noted significant infrastructural growth and improvements in living standards, with metro operations commencing in the city as a part of urban development initiatives. CM Adityanath stated that the expansion of Lucknow’s city limits has considerably enhanced the quality of life for its residents.

The Chief Minister reiterated his administration’s dedication to sustainable development, with particular emphasis on integrating solar energy solutions across the state. He mentioned that Ayodhya has already been established as a solar city, and efforts are underway to ensure that Lucknow follows a similar path.

Enhancements in Urban Safety and Infrastructure

CM Adityanath stressed the significance of urban safety measures, highlighting the successful deployment of Smart City technologies and LED lighting. He contrasted these advancements with the previous administration’s tenure, remarking on the reduction of crime through improved public lighting. He stated, “For those who had the habit of pulling off robberies in the darkness of night, the darkness was just fine. We, however, are worshippers of the sun.” This remark underscored his government’s focus on increasing public safety through innovative solutions.

Additionally, the Chief Minister announced that 18 municipal bodies have been integrated with the Integrated Command and Control Center, enhancing safety through a network of CCTV cameras. This initiative is designed to create safer urban environments by providing better surveillance capabilities.

Looking ahead, CM Adityanath also promised to transition the city bus service to an electric fleet, further committing to sustainable practices in public transport. This measure aligns with the larger goals of reducing pollution and reliance on fossil fuels, promoting a greener urban landscape in Lucknow.
