RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat highlighted the importance of maintaining commitment to one’s “Karma Bhumi” while contributing to Bharat during his address in London on September 7. He stated that there is no inherent conflict between British and Indian interests if British Hindus uphold their loyalty to Britain while also remaining committed to their cultural roots.

In response to a question about the expectations of the Sangh regarding British Swayamsevaks, Bhagwat articulated that if British Hindus truly embody the essence of being a Hindu, they will not face any conflict between their commitments to Britain and Bharat. He further asserted that should any divergence occur, it would be natural for British Hindus to align with Britain.

He explained that values gained from one’s Janam Bhumi (place of birth) should be applied to one’s Karma Bhumi. He asserted that Hindutva promotes loyalty and does not require individuals to abandon their Karma Bhumi.

Community Engagement in Celebration of Oneness

The event titled “Celebration of Oneness,” held on September 6, served as a platform for civilisational dialogue among community leaders. It forms part of the RSS centenary celebrations and an expansion of its outreach efforts in the UK. Organised by the Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh UK, a cultural organisation formed in 1966, the event aims to stimulate collaboration among over 310 participating community organisations from across the UK.

Bhagwat’s visit to London is the final segment of his outreach trip, which has included stops in New York and Toronto. He arrived in London on September 2, bringing with him the RSS’s experience in selfless service and social harmony, alongside the organisation’s civilisational vision encapsulated in the phrase “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,” meaning the world is one family.

The RSS, established in 1925 on the basis of Hindu cultural and civilisational values, is celebrating its centenary this year by expanding its programmes abroad. This milestone has prompted the organisation to identify five key priorities, which include social harmony, enhancing family values, environmental responsibility, self-reliance, and civic duty.

International Outreach and Engagement

The centenary year has allowed the RSS to broaden its civilisational dialogue with various communities globally. Notably, in April 2026, RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale conducted a significant outreach initiative that encompassed visits to the UK, the US, and Germany.

Continuing this effort, Bhagwat expressed his commitment to engaging with diverse audiences. He previously spoke at a multi-faith leaders’ meeting in New York on August 29, attended by 175 representatives across various religions, at the invitation of American Hindus for Engagement and Dialogue.

The logistical aspects of the London event have been managed by Integral, a UK-based organisation dedicated to fostering dialogue and collaboration between community leaders in the UK and those in India. More than 115 socio-cultural organisations have collaborated with Integral to facilitate Bhagwat’s visit and support the broader objectives of the programme.
