Railway Employee Killed in IED Blast in Jharkand

The CSR Journal Magazine

A railway employee was killed while another was seriously injured in an IED (hidden landmine) blast allegedly carried out by Maoists when a team was inspecting a site where an explosion had occurred. The incident took place in Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum district in the early hours of Sunday, as reported by an RPF official.

The railway official also reported that the incident was part of a two-stage attack carried out by Maoists during their Martyrs’ Week held between July 28 and August 3.

“The first IED blast occurred early Sunday, damaging the track. A second IED, likely planted nearby, exploded around 9:30 AM as a patrol team was inspecting the affected section,” said an official to the national media.

The severity of the second blast injured two railway employees. “Itwa Oraon, a keyman, suffered critical leg injuries and was rushed to a hospital. He was declared dead on arrival. His colleague, Budhram Munda, sustained serious injuries and is undergoing treatment,” the official further stated.
