Preity Zinta, known for her iconic roles in Indian cinema, is poised for a significant return to the silver screen. Following her earlier work in classic films such as Dil Se and Soldier, the actress has captivated audiences with her performances in titles like Kya Kehna, Mission Kashmir, and Kal Ho Naa Ho. The excitement surrounding her comeback was palpable when it was announced that she would feature in Lahore 1947, alongside Sunny Deol. In addition to this film, Zinta will also star in Vibe, a quirky entertainer revealed during Prime Video’s ‘It Starts Here’ event.

Vibe: A New Directorial Venture

Vibe will be directed by Kunal Kemmu, who is taking on his second directorial project after the successful Madgaon Express. The film will also feature actors Sparsh Shrivastava and Vanshika Dhir. Kemmu’s involvement in the film is expected to bring a fresh perspective, enhancing Zinta’s return to the industry.

Interactions at the Announcement Event

At the announcement event, host Karan Johar expressed his admiration for Zinta, recalling fond memories of their collaborations. He remarked on her selective choice of projects, asking her what influenced her decision to join Vibe. Zinta, with her characteristic charm, responded that Kemmu claimed she was in a good mood at the moment of the offer, which ultimately led her to accept the role. She described the script as humorous, saying, “I just fell down laughing. It was just so funny. I just couldn’t say ‘No’.” Johar reiterated his excitement for her return, noting her ability to brighten any scene she is part of.

Film Release Timelines

Vibe is backed by Amazon MGM Studios and is anticipated to hit theaters later this year. In the meantime, Lahore 1947 is directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Aamir Khan, who is also rumored to make an extended appearance in the film. This partition-themed drama is set for release on August 13, further building anticipation for Zinta’s on-screen presence in 2023.
