Lover Murders Woman’s 10-Year-Old Son in Varanasi, Three Held

A 10-year-old boy in Varanasi was allegedly killed by his mother’s lover, who has now been arrested along with an accomplice. Police said the accused, Faizan, murdered the child, Suraj, after the boy caught him in an intimate situation with his mother, Sona Sharma.

Sona, a widow from Ramnagar, lived with Suraj and her younger daughter. She had been in a relationship with Faizan, a resident of Golaghat, who often visited her home. According to investigators, when Suraj unexpectedly witnessed them together, Faizan feared the child would reveal the matter and decided to silence him.

On Sunday evening, Faizan lured Suraj to the Bawan Bigha fields, where his friend Rashid joined him. Police said the two strangled the boy and hid the body in bushes. Later, Sona reported her son missing, claiming an abduction. However, police began suspecting her after learning of her relationship with Faizan.

CCTV footage, combined with interrogation, led to the arrest of Faizan and Rashid. Both confessed, and Faizan even attempted to escape during the recovery of the body by snatching a policeman’s pistol. In the ensuing scuffle, police shot him in the leg before taking him to hospital under custody.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Kashi Zone, T. Saravanan, confirmed that Sona, Faizan and Rashid are all in custody and being interrogated further. The investigation is continuing to uncover more details about the planning and motive behind the murder.
