IIT Madras Extends GATE 2027 Registration Deadline Till October 5

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has announced an extension of the registration deadline for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2027. Candidates now have until October 5, 2026, to apply without incurring a late fee. This revised deadline follows multiple requests from prospective candidates for additional time to complete their applications.

Previously, the registration period was set to close on September 27, 2026. The decision to extend the deadline aims to accommodate the needs of applicants who might be facing challenges in completing the registration process within the original timeframe.

In addition to the standard registration deadline, candidates will also have the opportunity to submit their applications with a late fee until October 12, 2026. This provides a further option for those who may still need to finalise their applications after the initial deadline.

Key Dates for GATE 2027 Registration

Applicants should be mindful of crucial dates relevant to the GATE 2027 registration and examination schedule. The registration window opened on September 2, 2026, and will now close on October 5, 2026. After this, candidates who miss the regular deadline may still have a further chance to apply by paying a late fee before October 12, 2026.

Following the closure of applications, a correction window will be available from October 14 to October 21, 2026, allowing candidates to rectify any errors in their submitted applications. The allocation of examination centres will be communicated to applicants on January 4, 2027.

The GATE 2027 examination is scheduled to take place on February 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, and 21, 2027, with results expected to be released on March 19, 2027. Applicants must remain aware of this timeline to ensure they do not miss any important deadlines.
