Honda Unveils Facelifted Elevate SUV in India with New Features

The CSR Journal Magazine

Honda Cars India has officially introduced the updated Elevate SUV on October 6. This facelifted version of the mid-size SUV features an updated exterior design, an enhanced interior packed with more features, and several equipment upgrades. Notably, it retains the existing petrol powertrain. The Elevate facelift is making its global debut in India, marking a significant step for the brand in a competitive segment.

The bookings for the new Elevate commenced prior to the launch, with a nominal fee of Rs 21,000 at Honda dealerships across the country. This facelift aims to strengthen the Elevate’s market position amidst fierce competition in the mid-size SUV category.

Pricing and Variants

The specific variant-wise pricing for the revamped Elevate is anticipated to be disclosed during today’s launch event. The previous model had a starting price of approximately Rs 11.8 lakh, with projections suggesting that the new facelift might see a price increase due to additional features and modifications.

It is expected that the pricing for the facelifted Elevate will begin at around Rs 12 lakh. This increase aligns with greater options and technology aimed at enhancing user experience, particularly within the mid-size SUV segment.

As the announcement unfolds, details on different variants and their specifications are likely to be made available to potential customers.

Design Modifications

The facelift introduces notable aesthetic updates while maintaining the fundamental silhouette of the Elevate. The most prominent change is at the front, which now features newly designed segmented LED daytime running lights that are integrated into the grille. Additionally, the Honda emblem has been relocated from the grille to the bonnet, offering a distinctive visual identity.

Further design updates include a redesigned front grille and subtle modifications to the bumper. While the alloy wheel designs have been refreshed, the existing LED headlamps appear to remain unchanged. At the rear of the vehicle, a connected lightbar has been added between the tail lamps, contributing to a more modern look. Overall, the facelift represents an evolution of the design rather than a complete overhaul.

Interior Enhancements and Features

Inside, the Elevate receives a substantial upgrade in its feature set, with Honda focusing on incorporating amenities increasingly found in competing vehicles. A significant addition is the inclusion of a factory-fitted 360-degree camera, replacing the previously available dealer-installed option. This upgrade aims to enhance the overall functionality of the vehicle.

Additional features likely to be included are ventilated front seats, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and ambient lighting throughout the cabin. Other expected enhancements involve a powered co-driver’s seat, rear sunblinds, and dual-zone climate control. The interior’s colour scheme has also been lightened, improving aesthetics and ambiance for passengers.

Honda plans to disclose a comprehensive equipment list along with the final pricing, ensuring that prospective buyers have all necessary information regarding the upgraded features.

Performance and Safety Features

The mechanical setup of the Elevate remains consistent, as it utilises Honda’s 1.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine, producing approximately 121 horsepower and 145 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a CVT automatic option. Notably, the strong-hybrid powertrain currently available with the City model has not been confirmed for this facelifted version of the Elevate.

In terms of safety, the Elevate includes Honda Sensing ADAS technology, which features advanced functions such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and collision mitigation braking. The addition of the 360-degree camera aims to enhance visibility during parking and low-speed manoeuvres, further improving driver safety.

Rival Competitors in the Market

The updated Honda Elevate will vie for market share in India’s saturated mid-size SUV sector. Competing models include the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Victoris, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, and Tata Sierra. As Honda refines the Elevate to better meet consumer expectations, it retains its naturally aspirated petrol engine and associated gearbox options, ensuring familiarity for returning customers.
