EU to Showcase Food Diversity at Anuga Select India 2026

The CSR Journal Magazine

The European Union (EU) is set to showcase the breadth and commercial potential of its food and beverages at the Anuga Select India 2026 event, scheduled at the Bombay Exhibition Centre in Mumbai from 29 September to 1 October 2026. As the Official Partner Region for this event, the EU Pavilion will feature over 250 products sourced from its 27 Member States, under the umbrella of the ‘More than Food India’ campaign.

During the three-day programme, Indian stakeholders from various sectors, including buyers, retailers, distributors, and hospitality professionals, are invited to engage in an immersive experience that highlights the rich culinary traditions of Europe. Activities such as tastings, live cooking demonstrations, and product-focused sessions will showcase the unique qualities of European products, along with their quality and sustainability standards.

H.E. Dr Ewa Suwara, Chargé d’Affaires of the European Union to India, stated that the EU Pavilion aims not only to highlight culinary connections but also to foster trade and collaboration between European producers and Indian businesses, particularly as discussions on Free Trade Agreements and Geographical Indication agreements progress.

Official Opening Ceremony Scheduled

The Official Opening Ceremony of the EU Pavilion is planned for 12:00 on Tuesday, 29 September. The ceremony will take place in Hall 6, Booth B02–C02, and will be hosted by Petros Sourmelis, Minister Counsellor, Head of Trade and Economic Affairs Section at the Delegation of the European Union to India. Attendees can anticipate a live cooking demonstration that will utilise premium European ingredients, illustrating the standards that set EU food and beverages apart globally.

Registration for this ceremony is mandatory and will close on 25 September 2026. Additionally, visitors must register online to gain access to the broader Anuga Select India event.

Throughout the exhibition, visitors can explore more than 250 distinct products, with a focus on sustainable options and Geographical Indications. The EU’s GI quality scheme protects product names linked to specific regions, emphasising the unique practices and traditions that contribute to their character. Permanent tastings will be available, supplemented by live cooking shows featuring renowned chefs Ajay Chopra and Guntas Sethi.

Networking Opportunities for the Food Industry

Anuga Select India serves as a prime networking opportunity, bringing together various stakeholders from the food industry, including producers, buyers, importers, distributors, and retailers, both from India and international markets. As the Official Partner Region, the EU is positioned to bridge the gap between its diverse offerings and the needs of India’s evolving food sector.

This initiative not only focuses on the presentation of European food products but also aims to foster new commercial partnerships and opportunities for collaboration between the European Union and Indian businesses. By showcasing the added value of EU products, the event encourages innovative ways to present and pair these offerings.
