Muskan Rastogi, the prime accused in the horrific murder of her husband Saurabh Rajput, gave birth to a baby girl at the Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial Medical College Hospital in Meerut on Monday evening.

Muskan, currently incarcerated in Meerut jail, was rushed to the hospital on Sunday night after experiencing severe labor pains. Jail officials confirmed that both the mother and the newborn are in stable health after a successful normal delivery.

Security Tightened Around the Hospital

Given the high-profile nature of the case, additional security measures were implemented around the hospital, with police deployed to monitor entrances and wards. A special focus was placed on ensuring the safety and confidentiality of Muskan’s medical records.

Despite being informed of the birth, Muskan’s family members did not visit her at the hospital, authorities said. Head of Obstetrics, Dr Shakun Singh, told PTI that the baby weighed 2.4 kg and doctors successfully attempted a normal delivery. Both mother and child are healthy, jail officials said.

Details of the Murder Case

Saurabh Rajput was killed on March 4, 2025, at the couple’s residence in Indiranagar, Meerut. Muskan and her alleged lover, Sahil Shukla, reportedly drugged Saurabh before stabbing him to death.

They then dismembered his body, placing the remains in a blue drum filled with cement. The body was discovered after Muskan’s young daughter led the police to the drum, revealing the gruesome crime.

Muskan’s Confession and Investigation

Following the murder, Muskan and Sahil traveled to Himachal Pradesh to evade suspicion, but they were arrested on March 18 after an investigation revealed they had been planning the murder for months. Muskan allegedly confessed to her family before her arrest.

Investigators revealed that the motive for the murder was Muskan’s desire to pursue a relationship with Sahil, who was previously involved with her despite her marriage to Saurabh.
