The CSR Journal Magazine

The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), part of the Ministry of Power, Government of India, held the Influencers’ Conclave – East Region 2026 in Patna on September 8. This event aimed to enhance discussions on energy efficiency, conservation, and sustainable living among digital creators and influencers. The conclave was hosted at Maurya Hotel in Patna and served as a precursor to the upcoming 36th National Energy Conservation Awards (NECA) scheduled for December 14, coinciding with Energy Conservation Day.

The initiative intends to utilise the influence and creativity of digital content creators to deliver impactful messages related to energy conservation that resonate with citizens. BEE’s efforts reflect a commitment to engaging the public in dialogues about energy-saving practices.

During the conclave, BEE’s Director General addressed attendees via video conference, stressing the critical role of communication in promoting energy efficiency. He stated that effective messaging does not just raise awareness but also affects behaviours, highlighting the significant platform creators have to spread vital information across diverse communities.

Key Themes Discussed at the Conclave

The conclave included presentations detailing the NECA’s legacy and its impact, along with demonstrations of the NECA registration portal and video screenings featuring past NECA winners. Influencers were given an opportunity to engage in discussions about effectively conveying energy-efficient practices through digital mediums.

Five principal themes identified by BEE were emphasised during discussions, which included ‘Cook Smart: Switch to Induction’, ‘Cool Smart: Set Your AC at 24°C or Above’, ‘Choose Energy-Efficient Appliances’, ‘Smart Energy Choices for Everyday’, and ‘Electric Vehicles (EVs) & Sustainable Mobility’. These themes aim to link energy efficiency with quotidian decisions and consumer habits.

The conclave further highlighted the significant role that creators play in distilling complex technical information, catering to diverse audiences, and encouraging energy-efficient behaviours in daily life. BEE officials and participating influencers discussed avenues for ongoing collaboration to enhance engagement in the energy conservation movement.

Encouragement for Digital Creators

The Director General encouraged all creators to harness their creativity and digital outreach to incorporate energy conservation into daily conversations. He invited them to consider participating in the Social Media Influencers and Content Creators category for NECA 2026, reinforcing the power of their platforms in shaping societal attitudes.

“Your content has the potential to foster positive change in behaviour,” the DG remarked, underlining the importance of digital creators in contributing to a sustainable and energy-secure future. The Influencers’ Conclave 2026 represents the second year of BEE’s initiative to engage the creator community in propelling conversations around energy efficiency beyond traditional awareness efforts.

The conclave concluded with a rallying call for creators to ‘Create Conversations, Inspire Choices and Drive Change’, encouraging them to actively contribute to India’s aspiration for a more energy-efficient and sustainable future.
