‘My land will not become Uttar Pradesh or Bihar,’ Abhishek Banerjee calls for defeating BJP in West Bengal Assembly Elections

The CSR Journal Magazine

Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee has called for defeating the BJP in the upcoming West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026 from the district of Purulia. The Trinamool Congress General Secretary appealed to the people to ensure the party’s victory in all nine assembly constituencies of Purulia in the upcoming assembly elections.

The Diamond Harbour MP said, “My land will not tolerate it, it will not become Uttar Pradesh or Bihar.” With the 2026 assembly elections in sight, all parties have jumped into campaigning. Abhishek Banerjee is holding rallies across districts. On Wednesday, he held a rally in West Bengal’s tribal-dominated district Purulia.

Abhishek Banerjee alleges discrimination by centre

From Purulia, Abhishek raised his voice against central government’s discrimination. The BJP government at the centre has allegedly withheld Bengal’s funds. Rs 680 crore for Purulia is stuck with the central government. If that money were received, more development could have taken place in this district, said Abhishek. The West Bengal government challenged the central government on issues ranging from the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) funds to the State Infrastructure Development Fund (SIDF).

The Trinamool Congress government went to the Supreme Court demanding the outstanding dues for the MGNREGA scheme, following which the apex court ordered the central government to pay the arrears. The state also went to the Supreme Court on the SIR issue. In that case too, the Supreme Court ruled in favour of the state. This is a victory for the people of Bengal against the central BJP government, said Abhishek.

He said, “The BJP has garbage. These are like ulcers; if left untreated, they will turn into cancer.” Abhishek once again called for defeating the BJP in Bengal. He said, “This time, we will not let the BJP cross the 50-seat mark.”
The state spends Rs 27,000 crore annually on the Lakshmir Bhandar scheme. Reminding the same, the TMC leader appealed to the people to ensure TMC’s victory in the upcoming assembly elections for the development of Bengal.

Abhishek Banerjee reacts to Supreme Court’s ruling in SIR

Welcoming the Supreme Court’s order to the Election Commission (EC) to publish the names of electors who have been summoned for “logical discrepancies” as part of the ongoing SIR exercise in West Bengal, Abhishek Banerjee on Monday said the BJP’s “conspiracy” to get 1 crore names in the voters’ list has been foiled.

“I am very happy today. Today, the Supreme Court has accepted TMC’s demand and issued an order to publish the list of logical discrepancies. As far as I know, BLA 2 (Booth Level Assistants) will also be allowed in the hearing centre,” said Abhishek, adding, “once the list is published, the truth will become clear”.

“The BJP’s SIR game is over. One crore names that were targeted to be struck off from the voters’ list have been saved, and the victory belongs to the people of Bengal,” the TMC MP from Diamond Harbour said as he addressed people in Barasat in North 24 Parganas as part of his Jitbe Abar Bangla yatra.

“This is a victory of ‘Maa Mati Manush’ and the people of West Bengal over those who tried to pick and choose one crore citizens and delete their names from the electoral rolls. The Supreme Court gave two tight slaps on the faces of those who not only tried to starve the people of West Bengal, but also attempted to deprive them of their fundamental right to vote,” Abhishek said.
