Reliance wins Platts Global Energy Awards under CSR category
Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) won the Platts Global Energy Award in the Corporate Social Responsibility (wp) category. The Platts Global Energy Awards are often described as the “Oscars” of Energy.
The 17th Platts Global Energy Awards 2015 were held at Cipriani (Wall Street) in New York City. The awards are held for energy companies across the globe. Eighteen awards were bestowed upon companies and individuals before an audience of 400 energy executives hailing from 15 countries.
There were 12 finalists in the wp category. RIL won among the 12.
The Platts wp award recognizes the organisation that best demonstrates leadership, commitment to action and real-world impacts from across its business.
Platts adjudicators have stated that wp is not an obligation, but “a voluntary commitment which greatly motivates employee morale, is of fundamental interest to customers, investors and other key stakeholders and is a key determinant of a company’s character.”
According to RIL, Reliance Foundation, the wp arm of RIL led by Nita Ambani, has touched the lives of more than four million people across India, in more than 5,500 villages and urban locations.
Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) is India’s largest private sector company, with a consolidated turnover of INR 3,88,494 crore (US$ 62.2 billion), cash profit of INR 36,291 crore (US$ 5.8 billion) and net profit of INR 23,566 crore (US$ 3.8 billion) for the year ended March 31, 2015.
Making India further proud, Nishi Vasudeva, Chief Executive Officer of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited won the ‘CEO of the Year’ award.
