Free vaccination drives and CSR activities by Indian companies during the third wave

The third wave of COVID-19 came like a jolt out of the blue just as citizens were settling into a false sense of safety. However, this time the nation was better prepared. Not only were a record number of people double vaccinated against the virus, public and private players had already laid the groundwork for vaccination and relief measures. Here are some of the free community vaccination drives and CSR initiatives that companies in India are undertaking during the third wave of the pandemic.

Signature Global

Real estate group Signature Global organized a Covid vaccination drive for construction workers at across its project sites. This vaccination drive was coordinated in association with CREDAI National & HDFC Capital Advisors Limited and supported by the HT Parekh Foundation. During this drive total 852 workers were vaccinated at the project site of Signature Global located at Sector-92,93 & 95, Sector 89-1 & 2, Sector 36, Sector-63, 33, 79, 107, 103, Sector 37D 1&2, Sector 37D -3 of Gurugram. During this drive, Signature Global team followed all the COVID protocols, including mask discipline, temperature check, sanitization etc.

Omaxe World Street

Ramping up the continuous efforts against the evolving situation of Covid-19, Health Department Faridabad kickstarted a week-long vaccination drive along with District Red Cross Society, Faridabad at Omaxe World Street, Sector79, Greater Faridabad. The drive is scheduled from 21st January to 27th January 2022. The 1st and second 2nd dose of Covishield are being administered at the vaccination drive. Covaxin is being administered to children and booster dose to those eligible. People can directly walk-in at the venue between 10 am to 4 pm and receive the jab seamlessly. The CSR initiative is in line with continuing the past drives organised at Omaxe World Street, where people appreciated the seamless vaccination process. A team of medical experts was also present for post-jab supervision and extra care.

Valvoline Cummins

Valvoline Cummins Pvt. Ltd. organised a two-day vaccination drive in Khandsa, Gurgaon this month. The camp was organized keeping in view the rising cases of the new COVID – 19 variant that India has observed over the last three weeks and inoculated more than 500 people. The camp was targeted at drivers, mechanics, and allied community members and their families in association with the Chief Medical Officer, Gurgaon, Dr Virendra Yadav, and Synergies Institute of Trade Commerce and Industry. This would be the third camp by Valvoline Cummins for the community.

IIFL Group

The CSR arm of IIFL Group has partnered with central and state governments to start Maharashtra’s first vaccine delivery through drones in inaccessible Jawhar taluka of Palghar district. The drone-based vaccine delivery by IIFL Foundation is one of the country’s first vaccine delivery operations with a 5 kg payload and 25 kilometres range. IIFL Foundation’s drone-based vaccine delivery project was a part of its ‘Conquer Covid’ program to support the government’s last mile vaccine delivery mission. The first drone-based vaccine delivery by IIFL Foundation carried 300 vaccines to Zaap village in Jawhar, which helped 100% of vaccination of the village, which is located in a difficult hilly terrain. The drone for IIFL Foundation was developed by BlueInfinity foundation, a start-up based in Mumbai.

Tata Motors

Tata Motors donated Two Tata Winger Vaccine Vans to the Indian Red Cross Society to support Government’s COVID vaccination drive, raise awareness, and enhance coverage in rural pockets of Udham Singh Nagar District. The Winger vaccination van was flagged off in an event at Khatima on 29 December 2021, in the presence of Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami, Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, The Tata Motors Vaccine Van is built on Tata Winger’s versatile platform and is customized to facilitate smooth vaccination in rural areas and is equipped with enhanced safety features and required medical instruments. Its on-ground operation will occur in coordination with the Indian Red Cross Society, District Immunization Office (DIO), and doctors from the Government Health Department.

HCL

HCL has upgraded the Integrated COVID-19 Command Centre (ICCC) in the Hardoi district of Uttar Pradesh with support from the District Administration. The advanced Centre is aimed at ensuring critical support for the citizens of the district in the wake of a possible third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. The ICCC, which was previously operated manually, has now been strengthened with an automated call management system, updated software for end-to-end connectivity as well as infrastructure support for smooth functioning of the Centre.
The Integrated COVID Command Centre will operate as a single source to address citizens’ issues and will play an important role in day-to-day operations and COVID management efforts. Residents can reach the ICCC through helpline numbers – 05852237627, 05852237629 and toll-free number 1075. Trained staff from the Center will help screen callers and queries before referring them to a designated team of respondents including doctors, policemen, ambulance and other officials appointed by the government for further course of action. They will also follow up with COVID positive patients regarding their health and wellbeing and will ensure vaccination reminders are sent to those who have received the first dose of COVID vaccination.
