Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) announced that its COVID-19 Test Labs and Outpatient Department (OPD) Centres have collectively facilitated over 1,00,000 patient visits across India. These facilities provide additional authorized COVID-19 testing facilities and isolation beds, thereby assisting the Government of India and state governments in their efforts to contain the COVID-19 pandemic.

Launched in May 2020, the initiative now has 31 COVID-19 Test Labs and OPD Centres deployed across Assam, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Orissa, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and West Bengal.

Of the total COVID-19 Test Labs and OPD Centres, 16 were built using a combination of 40-feet and 20-feet refurbished negative air pressure containers, while the remaining were existing HPE eHealth Centres (eHCs), which were converted into COVID-19 OPD Centres using the requisite medical equipment and negative air pressure curtains to minimize the spread of infection.

The HPE COVID-19 Test Labs are designed to enable quick and clean testing of individuals who suspect they may have contracted COVID-19. The OPD Centres handle walk-in patients with flu-like symptoms and have provisions to house six patients for 24 to 48 hours for observation purposes.

The OPD Centres also feature negative air pressure doors to ensure isolation and also serve as temporary housing for people with COVID-19 symptoms until they are either discharged or are sent to the applicable wards for treatment.
“As we continue to work towards containing the COVID-19 pandemic, technology is helping us to better manage this unprecedented situation and navigate through it,” said Som Satsangi, MD – India, HPE“The 100 thousand patient visits at the HPE COVID-19 Test Labs and OPD Centres is a significant milestone. It reaffirms our commitment to be a force for good in this challenging environment.”
The Test Labs and OPD Centres facilities are equipped with biometrics, blood pressure apparatus, spirometer, serum analyzer, pulse oximeter, glucometer, pulse reader, and ECG. All these equipment are integrated with EMR (Electronic Medical Record) application, and an online dashboard is provided to monitor the progress of the OPDs.
The IT infrastructure at the Test Labs and OPD centres is designed to minimize downtime and ensure any related issue can be rectified remotely without the need of an on-site engineer. These facilities are equipped with Aruba Cloud Managed Wireless solution along with Aruba User Experience Insight (UXI) Sensor. This acts as a virtual network admin onsite and monitors all key applications proactively 24×7.
In case of any issues, the HPE Network Operations Centre (NOC) located at Chandigarh detects and resolves the problems before they are even noticed. The Aruba solution also offers zero touch provisioning, remote management and remote diagnosis which eliminates or limits human interaction thereby making it a best fit solution in response to COVID-19.
During this time of global uncertainty, HPE is committed to helping communities, customers, and partners. Earlier this year, at a worldwide level HPE Financial Services designated more than $2 billion in financing to help customers and partners with their financial challenges stemming from the COVID-19 crisis. HPE also launched VDI (virtual desktop interface) solutions to help customers easily support and adapt to growing demands for a remote workforce.
Additionally, to help organizations accelerate business recovery and reopening plans in the wake of COVID-19, HPE announced five new return-to-work solutions, which can assist in controlling the spread of the virus and enabling business continuity.
