5,860 Plants Destroyed, 100 Kg+ Drugs Seized in Rajasthan Anti-Narcotics Drive

The CSR Journal Magazine

In coordinated raids across many districts of Rajasthan, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) seized huge quantities of illegal narcotics and arrested seven people, police officials confirmed.  Inspector General (ANTF) Vikas Kumar shared that the raids occurred across seven locations in Rajsamand, Barmer, Kota, Jaipur, and Pratapgarh districts. In the operation, 5,860 cannabis plants were destroyed and 15 kg of Ganja and almost 85 kg of poppy husk were seized. Under ‘Operation Ganjajuli,’ police uncovered nearly six bighas of private land in Rajsamand district where the illegal substance was grown. In the hilly area, the unauthorized crop was concealed within wheat fields.

Over 2,000 Kg Yield Estimated from Illegal Crop

Thousands of plants were burnt on-site, and 12 kg of processed cannabis were recovered. According to official records, the plantation was valued at more than Rs 10 crore, with an estimated yield exceeding 2,000 kg.  These co-ordinated raids were conducted in coordination with the Narcotics Control Bureau under the supervision of its zonal director Ghanshyam Soni. In Pratapgarh district, Rajasthan, one arrested accused wanted in a narcotics trafficking case in Gujarat was handed over to Gujarat authorities.

This raid occurred just two days after a similar crackdown in Gujarat. An illegal cannabis plantation was busted in Isrodia village. Upon receiving a tipoff, the team raided a farm in the village and discovered the illegal crop planted among the regular crop to conceal it.  In the raid, 22 mature cannabis plants valued at Rs 2.60 lakh were recovered. The farm owner, identified as Devendrasinh Raulji, was arrested on the spot.

Within a week, these crackdowns in Gujarat and Rajasthan clearly indicate the intensified efforts by law enforcement agencies to curb illegal narcotics cultivation and trafficking.
