A 22-year-old woman was discovered hanging from a ceiling fan at a paying guest residence in Gurugram’s Islampur village. The authorities are investigating the circumstances leading to her death, which have raised serious concerns from her family. The deceased, identified as Tanisha, was a resident of Jalalpur village in Etah district, Uttar Pradesh. She was reportedly living with her partner, Chetan Sharma, who hails from the same district, at the paying guest facility located in Sector 38 of Gurugram.

Details Surrounding the Incident

According to police reports, Chetan Sharma, employed at a private company, left for work on Friday afternoon. Tanisha attempted to reach him via phone, but he could not respond as he was engaged at his job. Upon returning her call later, he found she was unresponsive.

After several unsuccessful attempts to contact her, Chetan requested a nearby neighbour, Anuj, to check on her wellbeing. When Anuj looked through the window, he allegedly discovered Tanisha hanging from the ceiling fan, with the door locked from inside. The police were notified immediately, and Tanisha’s family members were called to the scene.

Subsequently, her mother submitted a formal complaint, alleging that her daughter’s death was not a suicide but rather a homicide, implicating Chetan Sharma in the crime. The family contends that Tanisha was murdered and that her lifeless body was arranged to appear as though she had taken her own life. This allegation has prompted police to delve deeper into the specifics of Tanisha’s death.

It was noted by her sister, who also resides in Gurugram, that she had interacted with Tanisha the night before the incident, during which she seemed to be in a good mental state. Moreover, the family claimed they were unaware of Tanisha’s living situation with Chetan until the incident transpired, raising additional questions that investigators are now considering.

Investigation and Post-Mortem Findings

In the wake of the incident, police have initiated a thorough investigation while her body was taken into custody for a post-mortem examination. This was conducted by a team of medical professionals. Post-examination, the body was returned to her family for last rites. Inspector Mohan, the station head officer of Sadar police station, initially suggested that the death appeared to be a suicide.

However, he confirmed that the allegations of murder made by the family were being meticulously examined. “Further action will be contingent on the family’s complaint and the findings from the post-mortem report. We are committed to conducting a comprehensive investigation into this case,” Inspector Mohan stated. The police are meticulously scrutinising all evidence and the circumstances surrounding Tanisha’s death to ensure a thorough inquiry.
