Welspun Group launches its ‘We Volunteer’ program to encourage responsible citizens to drive inclusive growth
Welspun Group has announced the launch of ‘We Volunteer’ – a volunteering program aimed at enabling large-scale socio-economic growth. Driven in association with iVolunteer, the initiative is designed to empower Welspun employees and socially aware individuals to identify and guide the organization’s CSR spending towards areas that require maximum intervention.
Through this programme, Welspun aims to accelerate equitable growth for communities in need, especially the most marginalized.
We Volunteer was curated by Ms. Bidisha Banerjee (Group Vice President, Talent Culture at Welspun), Mr. Harshvardhan Nawathe (Vice President and Head Corporate Social Value at Welspun) along with Mr. Shalab Sahai (CoFounder & Director at iVolunteer) and it enshrines the 3Es of Welspun’s corporate value: Education, Empowerment, and Environment and Health. Through this program, employees can register via the microsite and volunteer by dedicating time towards initiatives around Education, Empowerment, Environment and Health (Mentoring sessions etc)
To drive maximum impact, the organization has opened up the volunteering program to outside stakeholders, in addition to its employees, through the microsite. Welspun has enabled a digital volunteering option to account for social distancing preferences of all participants These initiatives involve on ground and on site volunteering, involving participation from employees, Government agencies and other stakeholders, like students from nearby colleges and local communities
Speaking on the launch of the programme, Dipali Goenka, Jt MD & CEO – Welspun India Ltd said, “As an organization, Welspun has always worked towards uplifting communities through impactful intervention and an unrelenting focus on creating sustainable social value. The ‘We Volunteer’ program is another step in this direction and emphasizes our commitment to become the pioneers of a more inclusive world. The program is designed to help employees come forward and help communities by volunteering, digitally as well, through a microsite for six on-ground activities and a virtual event planned once a month. We are confident that the initiative, which is open to Welspun employees as well as external stakeholders, will help drive equitable socioeconomic growth for the communities most in need.”
Welspun’s partnership with iVolunteer, an organization that works in various critical social development areas such as education and environment, puts another feather in the cap for WELOCITY – the company’s ESG strategy. Under WELOCITY, Welspun has previously partnered with several local government bodies and non-government organizations to further its mission of promoting the wellbeing of the environment, society, and economic stakeholders, with robust governance at its foundation.
