Uttar Pradesh Youth Get Massive Opportunity as Govt Launches 1 Lakh-Job Mission

The CSR Journal Magazine

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission has emerged as a key driver of large-scale employment generation, significantly strengthening the state’s workforce and economic prospects.

Mega Employment Fairs Planned Across Five Districts

At the start of 2026, the state government is set to organize divisional-level mega employment fairs in five districts, aiming to connect nearly one lakh youth with job opportunities. These fairs will witness participation from around 100 private sector companies per event, offering on-the-spot placements to approximately 20,000 candidates at each location. Youth from multiple districts within the respective divisions are expected to take part.

Skill Training Aligned With Industry Needs

Minister of State for Vocational Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (Independent Charge) Kapil Dev Agarwal stated that the government’s core objective is to ensure local employment, reduce migration, and move Uttar Pradesh closer to its one trillion dollar economy goal. He emphasized that skill training programs are being designed strictly in line with industry requirements, ensuring that trained youth can transition directly into employment.

From the financial year 2017–18 to date, the state has organized 186 mega employment fairs at district and divisional levels, providing jobs to over 4.32 lakh youth. This consistent performance reflects the success of the Yogi government’s employment-focused policies and governance model.

Focused Push for Rural Employment

Special attention has been given to rural youth through the Deendayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana. Under this initiative, more than 2.26 lakh rural youth have secured employment via 1,624 employment fairs, ensuring inclusive growth beyond urban centers.

Even during the Covid-19 pandemic, when offline activities were suspended, the state maintained its employment momentum. Through online employment fairs, over 10,000 youth were successfully placed in jobs.

Integrated Model Driving Self-Reliance

In the current financial year, employment fairs organized in 74 districts on World Youth Skills Day resulted in nearly 21,000 placements. The government believes that its integrated model of skill training, industry participation, and employment fairs is playing a crucial role in making youth self-reliant and strengthening Uttar Pradesh’s economic foundation.
