UP Kanya Vivah Yojana: Construction Workers’ Daughters to Get ₹85,000 for Marriage, ₹15,000 for Event Arrangements

The CSR Journal Magazine

In a major decision benefiting construction workers, the Uttar Pradesh government under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has approved a significant increase in financial assistance under the Kanya Vivah Sahayata Yojana.

The scheme, implemented through the Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, aims to provide meaningful support to worker families during their daughters’ marriages.

UP Govt will give ₹85,000 per couple

Under the revised provisions, beneficiaries will now receive ₹65,000 for normal marriages, ₹75,000 for inter-caste marriages, and ₹85,000 per couple for mass marriages. Additionally, ₹15,000 will be granted separately for event arrangements.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized that worker families form the backbone of society and that it is the government’s humanitarian duty to support them. “No worker’s daughter should face distress when beginning a new chapter in her life,” he said.

Mass Marriage Ceremonies

To ensure smooth organization, all arrangements for mass marriage ceremonies—including security, accommodation, transportation, and food—will be made by the Labour Department and the Board.

Board Secretary Pooja Yadav stated that the welfare board is committed to extending the benefits of its schemes to every registered worker. “This enhanced assistance will directly benefit lakhs of worker families,” she added. Currently, more than 1.88 crore workers are registered with the Board.

How to Register?

Workers can register with a one-time fee of ₹20 and an annual contribution of ₹20. The application process is fully online and free of cost, available through www.upbocwboard.in or public service centers.

Other Schemes

The Board runs several welfare schemes for registered workers, including:

  • Maternity Assistance: ₹20,000 for the birth of a son, ₹25,000 for a daughter, and a fixed deposit of ₹2.5 lakh.

  • Education Assistance: Financial aid ranging from ₹2,000 to ₹1,00,000 from Class 1 to higher education, along with full reimbursement for vocational courses.

  • Serious Illness Assistance: Full reimbursement of medical expenses.

  • Pension Assistance: Monthly financial support of ₹1,000 as per eligibility.

  • Disability/Death Assistance: ₹2,00,000 to ₹5,00,000 for dependents of registered workers.
