Two Domestic Workers, Accomplice Held in Gurugram for Minor Assault Case

The CSR Journal Magazine

In a significant development in Gurugram, two female domestic workers along with a male accomplice have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the sexual assault of a three-year-old girl. The Gurugram police announced these arrests on Saturday, subsequent to a Supreme Court hearing the previous day concerning a petition that called for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or Special Investigation Team (SIT) inquiry into the matter.

Details of the Incident

The alleged assault took place between December 2025 and January 2026 within a residential complex located in Sector 54. The investigation commenced after the girl’s parents reported the incident to the authorities in February, following a disclosure made by their daughter to her mother. An FIR was filed under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at the Sector 53 police station on February 4.

Legal Proceedings and Court Involvement

A senior advocate presented the case before the Supreme Court, emphasizing that law enforcement had failed to take adequate action, despite the girl having provided a detailed statement to a magistrate regarding the disturbing incident. The three-judge bench, consisting of Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and Vipul M. Pancholi, recognized the urgency of the situation as highlighted by senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi and arranged for a hearing on Monday. As a result, all three suspects were taken into custody by the Gurugram police the following day.

Identification of the Accused

The arrested individuals have been identified as Sangeeta, hailing from Ghamuria village in Etah district, Uttar Pradesh, and Pakila, a resident of Bara Chandghar village in Nadia, West Bengal, along with her husband, Kabir Mulla. All three are currently living in the Ghata slum area of Gurugram and are aged between 30 and 32 years.

Current Status of the Investigation

Initial investigations indicated that one of the domestic workers had recently commenced employment at the child’s residence, while the other was working in an adjacent flat. During this time, it is alleged that the male accomplice behaved inappropriately towards the minor. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to gather additional evidence and insights into the case.
