This advancement is attributable to the introduction of Apple’s A20 Pro chip, which is reportedly designed using TSMC’s advanced 2nm manufacturing process. Analysts suggest that the A20 Pro chip will not only boost performance but also improve energy efficiency, with expectations that it will use up to 30 per cent less power than the previous A19 Pro chip.

According to information from Weibo tipster Fixed Focus Digital, the new chip technology is anticipated to incorporate Gate-All-Around technology, further augmenting the performance capabilities of the iPhone 18 Pro lineup. This potential shift indicates that the 18 Pro models could represent one of the most significant generational leaps in Apple’s smartphone technology.

The enhancements in power come with implications for pricing. Counterpoint Research indicates that the cost of materials for the high-end models, particularly the iPhone 18 Pro Max equipped with 12GB RAM and 1TB storage, could rise by nearly $300. Meanwhile, lower storage options may experience component cost increases of around $200 to $250.
