Syrian State TV Building Hit by Missile During Live Broadcast

The CSR Journal Magazine

A live television broadcast was interrupted with Israeli daily airstrikes, hitting a Syrian state TV building in central Damascus late Wednesday. The video that went viral shows a female news anchor running off the screen as an explosion struck the building. This video was posted by Israel’s Defence Minister Israel Katz on social media platform X: “The painful blows have begun.”

Another post by Katz addressed the Druze community living in Israel: “The warning in Damascus have ended. Now, painful blows will come,” wrote the Defence Minister, stating that the IDF would protect the community.

“Our Druze brothers in Israel, you can rely on the Israel Defence Forces to protect your brothers in Syria. Prime Minister Netanyahu and I, as Ministers of Defence, have made a commitment. We will uphold it,” wrote Katz.

Israel confirmed the launch of a direct strike on the Syrian regime’s military headquarters in Damascus, blowing up the entrance gate of the defence compound. The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) also said that the strike was in response to repression against Druze civilians in southern Syria (particularly in Suweida). The IDF also informed that it carried out ongoing strikes near the city and defence ministry, as part of an effort to disturb Raj convoy and prevent threats near Israel’s northern border. The military further confirmed that the operation is continuing “in accordance with directives from the political echelon” and that it remains on high alert as tensions between the two nations escalate in the border area.
