Surat-Udaipur Vande Bharat Express Bookings Commence

The CSR Journal Magazine

Bookings for the Surat–Udaipur Vande Bharat Express have started as of 8 am on Thursday, October 1, as announced by the Mumbai Central division of Western Railway. This new train service aims to provide a semi-high-speed connection between the south Gujarat region and Rajasthan, enhancing travel options for passengers in these areas. Train numbers 26903 and 26904 will operate six days a week, with a lone exception on Tuesdays.

The introduction of this service marks a significant advancement in regional connectivity for areas such as Surat, which is known for its textile and diamond industries. Attracting both business and leisure travellers, the train service offers a convenient alternative for commuters in this economic corridor.

Schedule and Travel Timings

The Surat-Udaipur Vande Bharat Express will operate daily except for Tuesdays. As per the schedule, the train departing from Surat (Train 26903) is set to begin its journey on Sunday, October 4, while the return service from Udaipur (Train 26904) will commence on Saturday, October 3. This operational timetable presents a seamless travel option for both destinations.

Train 26903 will depart from Surat at 6.10 am and is expected to reach Udaipur by 1.40 pm, taking around seven and a half hours to cover a distance of approximately 690 km. The return journey, Train 26904, will leave Udaipur at 3.35 pm and arrive back in Surat at 11 pm, offering a late-night return option for those visiting Udaipur.

Commuters will benefit from the efficient scheduling, allowing for day trips to Udaipur’s scenic locations, with a return by night. This effectively maximises the travel experience for stakeholders, including tourists and business personnel.

Stations and Coach Details

The Vande Bharat Express will make nine stops in both directions, serving key stations such as Bharuch, Vadodara, Anand, Maninagar, Asarva (Ahmedabad), Himmatnagar, Shamlaji Road, Dungarpur, and Zawar. This extensive network of halts provides additional convenience for passengers travelling between diverse locations, including Ahmedabad, which can be accessed via Maninagar or Asarva.

As for the train’s accommodations, it will include both Executive Chair Car and AC Chair Car coaches, catering to different passenger preferences. Detailed fare information has yet to be disclosed, but it is expected to be available on the IRCTC website and at Passenger Reservation System counters around the launch time.

It is worth noting that this service expands the route of the existing Udaipur City–Asarva Vande Bharat Express to include Surat rather than serving as an entirely new service. The operational schedule, featuring six days of service, allows for regular maintenance on the excluded Tuesday.

Passengers aiming to travel on the inaugural weekend are advised to verify seat availability through the IRCTC platform or at local reservation counters. Although updates regarding the booking process for the return train, Train 26904, have not been explicitly stated, potential passengers are encouraged to monitor the IRCTC site for announcements regarding this service.
