A recent conflict between two content creators from Pune culminated in violence when a 19-year-old engineering student was reportedly attacked with a sharp weapon. The incident took place inside the Cafe Flying Gypsy in Shivajinagar around 3.30 am on Independence Day, August 15, 2026. According to police reports, the assault appears to stem from a rivalry that began nearly a year prior, following a minor road accident involving Atharva Pramod Jagtap, aged 19, and Madhavi Rajesh Kumbhar, aged 23, at Kaas Pathar in the Satara district.

Both individuals have garnered significant social media followings, with Madhavi boasting approximately 2.4 million Instagram followers and Atharva having nearly 250,000. The initial disagreement escalated over time, spilling into digital platforms where both parties engaged in mutual trolling and public taunts, reportedly intensifying their animosity towards each other.

Police assert that the online exchanges laid the groundwork for the assault, as Madhavi and her associates allegedly conspired to confront Atharva. The confrontation in which Atharva became a victim was not a spontaneous act, but rather the result of ongoing hostilities cultivated by their social media interactions.

Arrests and Legal Proceedings

In the aftermath of the attack, law enforcement officials with the Deccan police apprehended 12 adults and detained three juveniles in connection to the incident. Following the attack, police acted quickly to provide medical assistance to Atharva, who required urgent care due to the severity of his injuries. Upon receiving his complaint, authorities registered a case citing attempt to murder, alongside several other relevant charges.

Investigators utilised CCTV footage from the cafe to identify the assailants. Among those arrested were Rahul Sitaram Waghmare, aged 20, along with Madhavi, and another individual named Snehal Sonke. The investigation also led to the arrest of the cafe’s owner and manager, as police alleged that the establishment was operating beyond permitted hours and had interfered with evidence by attempting to clean up blood from the scene.

Subsequently, three additional adults were arrested, adding to the ongoing inquiry into the assault. The juvenile suspects were placed in an observation home as the judicial process continues. The adults detained are currently in magisterial custody as the police gather further evidence to build their case.
