Seats Remain Half-Fill in DU’s New BTech Programme

As admissions in Delhi University are nearing, 120 seats in the Computer Science and Engineering program have been filled, while several seats continue to remain vacant in the Electrical Engineering as well as Electronics and Communication Engineering courses. Of the total 360 seats across the three programmes, 338 have been filled so far, according to the national media.

Each of the three BTech programmes at Delhi University, introduced in the 2023–24 academic session, can accommodate a total of 120 students. Students are inducted into these courses on the basis of their performance in the JEE Mains examination.

As per the schedule on Delhi University’s official website, the mid-entry window for the BTech program will begin on July 2 and will end on July 4. The third round of seat allocation will start thereafter.

After the minimum Common Rank List (CRL) cut-off for the second round of seat allocation was issued by DU, Electrical Engineering has so far filled only 56 seats, while Electronics and Communication Engineering has admitted over 19 students.

New Courses

The B.A. LL.B. integrated law program and B.Tech programmes are being offered by Delhi University’s Faculty of Law and Faculty of Technology, respectively. The admission process for both courses continues to run separately from the Central Undergraduate Seat Allocation System (CSAS) put in place for most other undergraduate courses at DU. Students having an annual family income of less than ₹4,00,000 are eligible for a fee waiver of up to 90% in both BTech courses and integrated law programmes.

The university is now also preparing to initiate the second phase of seat allocation across the undergraduate courses early next week. “If the CET results are announced this week, we expect to begin the second phase of admission early next week,” said Hanan Gandhi, the Dean of Admission at Delhi University.
