The SCBA expressed deep concern over the excessive force reportedly used against peaceful demonstrators, labelling the actions as unacceptable in the context of a democratic society.

The resolution highlighted that numerous students sustained significant injuries during the confrontation, and members of the Bar, including SCBA representatives, were also reportedly harmed. The association called for a comprehensive examination of the incident to hold those accountable for the alleged misuse of force.

The association emphasised the importance of safeguarding the health and welfare of both students and legal professionals affected by the events.

Moreover, the SCBA conveyed its expectation that measures will be taken to prevent similar occurrences in the future. It reiterated the ongoing commitment to uphold constitutional rights, human dignity, and the rule of law within the framework of democratic governance.

The resolution was presented by SCBA Honorary Secretary Pragya Baghel, underscoring the organization’s dedication to addressing the grievances arising from the incident.

The lathi charge took place on July 22, 2026, when Delhi Police reportedly used mild force to disperse a large gathering of protesters aiming to march towards Parliament House. This gathering primarily consisted of individuals from the Congress party, including several prominent leaders who were part of the demonstration at Lok Kalyan Marg.

Security protocols in the area were reportedly heightened in response to the protests, involving the deployment of paramilitary forces.
