In a disturbing incident that has left the residents of Raipur and Bilaspur stunned, a 16-year-old girl allegedly murdered her boyfriend, Mohammad Saddam, by slitting his throat inside a lodge room in Raipur. The incident occurred on the night of September 28 and came to light only after the minor confessed to her mother upon returning to Bilaspur.

Police sources said the girl, who is three months pregnant, had traveled from Bilaspur to Raipur to meet Saddam, an MS Engineering officer originally from Bihar and currently posted in Abhanpur. The couple checked into Avon Lodge located in Satkar Gali under the jurisdiction of Ganj police station on Saturday, September 28.

Relationship Turned Toxic

Investigations revealed that tensions had escalated between the couple after Saddam allegedly pressured the girl to undergo an abortion. According to reports, he had even threatened her with a knife during a previous altercation outside the lodge. The girl, refusing to terminate the pregnancy, reportedly endured continuous emotional and physical pressure.

On the night of the murder, while Saddam was asleep, the girl allegedly used the same knife with which he had previously threatened her to slit his throat. She then locked the lodge room from outside, took Saddam’s mobile phone, and fled the scene. To cover her tracks, she discarded the room key near nearby railway tracks.

Confession and Police Action

Upon returning home to Bilaspur, the teen broke down and confessed the crime to her mother, who then accompanied her to Koni police station. Acting on the tip-off, Raipur police reached the scene and recovered Saddam’s body, which was found soaked in blood.

Statement of Police

“We are currently trying to contact the deceased’s family in Bihar using his mobile phone. The girl is in custody and being interrogated under the relevant provisions of the law,” said a senior officer of Raipur police.

“The deceased’s phone is in our custody, and we are tracing his family members through the number. A case has been registered, and the minor girl, who is in conflict with the law, is being interrogated,” said a senior officer of Raipur police.

Police believe the murder was a result of extreme emotional stress and ongoing disputes. “This appears to be both a crime of passion and desperation. The investigation will establish whether it was premeditated or a spur-of-the-moment act,” said an investigating officer.
