India has time and again turned to Ayurveda to resolve any health problems or diseases. The ancient Indian medical science has relied on natural remedies which do not have significant side effects to treat various ailments. COVID-19 pandemic and its lack of treatment or vaccine had encouraged many Ayurveda doctors to recommend concoctions that will help people improve their immunity, strengthening the body’s capacity to fight against the virus in case of infection.
Taking the fight against the pandemic further ahead, Patanjali – a pioneer in Ayurvedic products – has claimed to have discovered first medicine to treat Coronavirus disease. The company has launched ‘Coronil and Swasari’, – the Ayurvedic cure for treating COVID-19, which has reportedly shown 100 per cent favourable results during clinical trials on affected patients, at Patanjali Yogpeeth in Haridwar. Acharya Balkrishna, MD of Patanjali Ayurveda has claimed that Ayurvedic medicine has been able to cure COVID-19 patients within 3-14 days.
Patanjali has reported that it had recruited a total of 100 coronavirus positive patients for the controlled clinical trial. Of these patients, 95 were studied, 1 was lost on the follow-up details, 4 patients withdrew consent between the study. The controlled clinical trials were jointly conducted by Patanjali Research Institute, Haridwar and National Institute of Medical Sciences, Jaipur.
The company had appointed a team of scientists after COVID-19 outbreak. In order to work towards the discovery of the medicine, firstly the simulation was done and compounds were identified which can fight the virus and stop its spread in the body. Minerals and herbs were used to prepare the medicine. Then a clinical case study was conducted on hundreds of positive patients and one hundred per cent favourable results were observed.
“After taking our medicine, COVID patients recovered in 3-14 days and then tested negative. So, we can say the cure for COVID is possible through Ayurveda. We are performing controlled clinical trials only. In the next 4-5 days, evidence and data will be released by us,” Balkrishna had claimed.
The company has claimed that the corona kit can also be taken as a preventive measure against coronavirus infection. However, it has also been clarified that this is not an immunity booster but a coronavirus cure.
Acharya Balkrishna has said, that the Coronakit will be made available to people at just ₹545 which includes medication for 30 days. This medicine kit is not available anywhere, for now, will be made available at Patanjali stores in a week. Baba Ramdev has assured that the company will also launch an e-commerce app for the delivery of the medicines within 2 hours for the order placement.
