OYO distributes laptops to meritorious underprivileged students in Gurgaon
In order to strengthen the technical skills of the young learners, OYO, the global hospitality technology company, distributed laptops to the meritorious students in Gurgaon. More than 70 students were handed over laptops equipped with the latest e-learning software. These students were shortlisted from 15 government schools in Gurgaon on the basis of their academic performance at the senior secondary level.
The laptop distribution ceremony took place at the Government Senior Secondary School at Jacobpura in Gurgaon.
This initiative is a part of the company’s efforts to create a resilient and inclusive learning environment for the underprivileged students. It is also aimed at digitising the school learning system and making it much more productive for teaching and learning.
Commenting on this initiative, Rakesh Prusti, General Counsel, OYO said, “We strongly believe that all children must have equal learning opportunities. Therefore, we are enabling underprivileged students by giving them the right technological tools to make up for the lack of access to computing devices and technology. We are sure that it will help them acquire technical skills to excel in the competitive world”.
OYO has collaborated with Child Survival India – an organisation working towards the empowerment of marginalised sections of the society to successfully execute this program. It will stay in touch with the students to ensure their uninterrupted learning.
In addition to child and youth development, Child Survival India is also involved in many other areas such as maternal and child health, women empowerment, HIV/AIDS prevention, child rights, legal literacy and women empowerment.
