Narendra Modi Launches HPV Drive and Rs 16,680 Crore Development Projects in Ajmer

The CSR Journal Magazine

On March 1, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a nationwide vaccination initiative targeting Human Papillomavirus (HPV) along with development projects amounting to Rs 16,680 crore in Ajmer, Rajasthan. Speaking at a large public rally post-event, PM Modi emphasized the achievements of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) government in Rajasthan over the past two years, stating that the state is progressing toward enhanced development.

PM Modi described the launch of the HPV vaccination campaign as a pivotal move towards improving women’s empowerment across the nation. He articulated, “Today, from this brave land of women, I have the privilege to initiate an essential campaign for the country’s daughters.” The Prime Minister highlighted the commitments made by the BJP government towards rapid development and asserted that the current day presents an opportunity to propel this agenda further.

Focus on Development in Various Sectors

During the ceremony, PM Modi noted the simultaneous inauguration and foundation laying of multiple development projects worth nearly Rs 17,000 crore aimed at enhancing Rajasthan’s infrastructure. He pointed out the expansion of resources in essential areas such as roads, electricity, water, health, and education, anticipating that these projects will not only improve living conditions for residents but also generate employment opportunities for the state’s youth.

After returning from a visit to Israel, PM Modi recalled the contributions of Major Dalpat Singh in liberating Haifa, expressing pride in acknowledging the valor of Rajasthani soldiers in global contexts.

Political Reactions and Controversies

In his address, PM Modi took a strong stance against the opposition Congress party, drawing on historical references related to India’s partition. He accused the Congress party of emulating the All-India Muslim League, which he claimed sought to weaken the nation. The Prime Minister asserted, “Maoists despise India’s progress and its democratic structure, and Congress similarly seeks out opportunities to undermine the nation.” This statement follows recent protests by Indian Youth Congress leaders at an AI Summit.

In response, Ashok Gehlot, the former Chief Minister of Rajasthan and a Congress leader, condemned PM Modi’s comparison as a reflection of political desperation. Gehlot called for the Prime Minister to engage in discussions pertaining to public interests rather than launching attacks on the Congress party. He emphasized that opposing the Prime Minister does not equate to opposing the country.

Congress MP Manish Tewari also criticized PM Modi’s language, arguing it undermines the Congress party’s historical contributions to India’s independence. Tewari underscored the difference between the Congress’s legacy and the Prime Minister’s current political stance.

Inauguration of Semiconductor Facility

In a related event, PM Modi inaugurated the Semiconductor Assembly, Test and Packaging (ATMP) facility of Micron Semiconductor Technology India Private Limited in Sanand, Gujarat. This facility is seen as a landmark development in India’s semiconductor production, marking the commencement of local manufacturing for semiconductor memory modules. The project, which began construction after its groundbreaking ceremony in September 2023, was initiated under the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) with a financial commitment exceeding Rs 22,500 crore.

During the inauguration, PM Modi articulated the broader implications of this initiative for India’s technological sector, stating that the semiconductor industry will significantly bolster various segments of the economy, including MSMEs and start-ups. He noted the ambition to position India as a competitive player in the global semiconductor market.

Officials from the Gujarat government expressed optimism regarding the facility’s potential to transform Sanand into a global semiconductor hub, reinforcing confidence in the Prime Minister’s initiatives and long-term vision for economic development.
