The CSR Journal Magazine

The case involves serious allegations made by a 24-year-old woman, who claims that her former classmate Ayyaz Taj Madare, aged 26, assaulted her. A disturbing video that has circulated widely shows the woman pleading for release while Madare holds her hands and chants religious verses. This video has emerged as a crucial piece of evidence as the woman asserts she was coerced into a religious conversion against her will.

According to her allegations, Madare drugged her on the pretext of discussing a property deal and subsequently raped her while she was incapacitated. The incident reportedly took place in a hotel on Wardha Road in February 2025. The woman claims Madare recorded the assault, which he then used to blackmail her.

Following the alleged assault, the complainant states that she was subjected to continued exploitation and extortion, with Madare reportedly demanding Rs 3.09 lakh from her. The victim asserts that she was not only raped but also pressured into changing her religion through various coercive tactics.

Allegations of Religious Conversion and Multiple Accusations

The complainant further alleges that her coerced conversion involved an encounter with two additional individuals, Ameen Sheikh, aged 30, and Hazrat Maulana, who is currently at large. Reportedly, on May 31, she was taken to Kalmeshwar in Nagpur, where she was introduced to Sheikh and Maulana, who performed certain rituals claiming they were necessary for her conversion.

The woman asserts that following these rituals, another attempt to sexually assault her was made. She openly reported her distressing experiences to her husband upon his return home three days ago, prompting him to assist in filing a formal complaint.

The police have initiated an investigation and filed charges under several serious sections, including rape, extortion, attempted religious conversion, and those outlined in the Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and Other Inhuman, Evil and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act.

Current Status of Investigation and Arrests

The case highlights significant issues surrounding consent and coercive religious practices in contemporary society, drawing attention from various human rights organisations. The police have assured a thorough investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice.

As the investigation continues, the focus remains on the safety and well-being of the complainant and the legal proceedings against the accused. The case has raised important questions about the rights of individuals in similar situations and the mechanisms in place to protect them.
