Multi-stakeholder Approach To Transform India’s Education System

Today’s children are tomorrow’s scientists, engineers, doctors, lawyers and administrators of the world. The very foundation of the intellectual genius of students is laid in schools. This makes it very important for teachers to have the appropriate skill set to bring out the weaknesses and strengths of the students in order to be able to shape their future.

In order to address this, and to improve the education system of India, the Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) has launched the Integrated Teachers Training Programme, NISHTHA, National Initiative for School Head’s and Teachers’ Holistic Advancement. The integrated programme aims to build the capacities of around 42 lakh participants covering all teachers and Heads of the school at the elementary level in all government school, faculty members of state councils of Educational Research and Training and other educational departments of all States and Union Territories. The integrated training will motivate and equip teachers to encourage and foster critical thinking in students, handle diverse situations and act as first-level counsellors.

The government will develop a standardised training module which will be developed by consultative process involving suggestions from states and Union Territories (UTs) and Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS), Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), School Principals and Non-Governmental Organizations, (NGOs) like Aurobindo Society, Kaivalya Foundation, Azim Premji Foundation and Tata Trust.
The multistakeholder approach will ensure that teachers get awareness and develop their skills on various aspects related to Learning Outcomes, Learner-centered Pedagogy, Competency-Based Learning and Testing, School Safety and Security, Inclusive Education and Personal-social qualities. Teachers will also get awareness on Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in teaching-learning including Artificial Intelligence (AI) Health and well-being including yoga, Initiatives in School Education including library, kitchen garden, eco-club, youth club, School Leadership qualities, Environmental Concerns, Pre-school, Pre-vocational Education and School-Based Assessment in a joyful learning manner.
