According to a recent report, Mojtaba Khamenei, Iran’s new supreme leader, narrowly escaped a missile strike attributed to US-Israeli forces. The assault resulted in the death of his father, former supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, alongside several senior officials and family members.

The account, cited in a purportedly leaked audio from an internal meeting among Iranian officials, indicates that Mojtaba exited his residence just moments before the missiles impacted the compound.

Reports suggest that Mojtaba was outside in the garden when the missiles struck his compound. A statement from Mazaher Hosseini, the head of protocol for Khamenei’s office, indicated that “God’s will” was responsible for Mojtaba’s timely exit. He noted that Mojtaba was en route to return inside when the strikes occurred, highlighting the critical timing of his movements during the attack.

Casualties and Damage

The missile barrage reportedly involved at least three projectiles targeting the compound. One missile hit the area where Ali Khamenei was located, while another struck the upper floor of the building, impacting Mojtaba’s residence. Despite the destruction, Mojtaba reportedly sustained only a minor leg injury during the incident.

Additionally, another missile targeted the residence of Mojtaba’s brother-in-law, Misbah al-Huda Bagheri Kani, causing substantial damage.

In light of the events, US President Donald Trump remarked that American intelligence officials lacked clarity regarding Mojtaba’s condition. He noted that various reports were circulating, with some claiming that the new supreme leader might be severely disfigured, while others speculated that he could be deceased. Trump emphasized the uncertainty surrounding Mojtaba’s status, as there have been no public sightings of him since the missile strikes.
