Mallikarjun Kharge Criticises PM Modi for Ignoring Citizens’ Issues

The CSR Journal Magazine

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has strongly criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for allegedly neglecting the issues faced by Indian citizens, particularly amid the politically charged atmosphere preceding assembly elections. In a social media post, Kharge remarked that Modi is frequently seen engaging with global leaders but fails to address the concerns of the Indian populace, such as rising LPG prices and the increasing cost of living.

According to Kharge, despite the government’s insufficient responses to critical issues like the financial struggles of farmers, the Prime Minister prioritises international diplomacy over domestic welfare. He expressed concern about the government’s lack of transparency and accountability to its citizens.

In his statement, he underscored the disconnect between the government and the common people, asserting that while Modi travels extensively, he does not engage with the people living through economic hardships. The Congress leader’s critique resonated with many who are currently grappling with the financial strain of rising living costs.

Kharge Questions PM Modi’s Activities in the US

Furthering his criticism, Kharge questioned PM Modi’s attendance at events in the United States, where he allegedly campaigned for Donald Trump during the latter’s presidential election bid. Kharge argued that it is unusual for a Prime Minister from India to support another country’s election campaign, particularly when the candidate did not secure victory.

This line of questioning highlights a perceived pattern of behaviour that Kharge believes undermines Modi’s responsibilities to the Indian citizenry. The Congress president suggested that Modi’s international activities detract from important domestic issues, thereby exacerbating public discontent.

In addition, Kharge alleged that Modi is currently appealing to voters in Keralam on behalf of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), while indirectly endorsing the Left government, which he views as contradictory to the democratic objectives of which the Prime Minister should be an advocate.

Prime Minister Modi’s Response and Political Context

In contrast to Kharge’s statements, PM Modi, addressing a public rally in Keralam, accused the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the Congress party of allegedly fostering radical elements to secure vote banks. He referred to incidents of violence in Keralam and stated that these issues are becoming increasingly prevalent, highlighting a stark divide between his party’s approach and that of the opposition.

Modi claimed that the local government has failed to protect the rights of various communities and instead appears to support radical groups, which has raised security concerns among the populace. His remarks indicated a strategy to galvanize support among voters who value stability and safety.

The Prime Minister expressed confidence in the potential success of the BJP-NDA coalition in the upcoming assembly elections in Keralam. Citing enthusiasm from women voters and a broader public push for change, Modi believes that the BJP’s platform resonates with the electorate’s needs.

The assembly elections in Keralam are scheduled for April 9, 2025, with results set to be announced on May 4, along with those of Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Assam, and Puducherry. As political rhetoric intensifies, the public remains vigilant regarding the promises and actions of their leaders as the election date approaches.
