The Jharkhand State Housing Board has announced that a notice has been issued to former Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni regarding the supposed misuse of a residential plot located in Ranchi. An official confirmed this development on Friday. According to the notice, the land allocated to Dhoni was designated strictly for residential use. However, authorities allege that the property is being utilized for commercial activities, which violates the terms of the land allotment.

Sanjay Lal Paswan, Chairman of the Jharkhand Housing Board, indicated in a phone conversation that the board has allocated residential plots to various individuals, including Dhoni. Upon receiving reports suggesting the plot was being used for commercial purposes, notices were dispatched not only to Dhoni but also to several officials and numerous others to clarify the situation regarding the land’s use.

Findings from the Inquiry

Paswan elaborated that the alleged violation of regulations was uncovered during an inquiry carried out by the board. As a result of this investigation, a final notice was issued to Dhoni requesting an explanation for the claimed misuse of the property. Should Dhoni fail to comply with the notice or provide a satisfactory explanation, the Housing Board may initiate proceedings to revoke the allotment of the plot. The board has indicated that any actions taken will be in line with established procedures and regulations governing residential land use.

Dhoni’s Current Residence and Background

Currently, Dhoni resides in a newly constructed home situated on Ring Road in Ranchi. He previously lived at the property on Harmu Road that is now under investigation. This scrutiny emerged following allegations that a diagnostic facility was being operated from the Harmu Road location, prompting the Housing Board to commence a formal investigation.

Similar Allegations Against Local Political Office

Additional allegations concerning the misuse of residential plots for commercial activities have also surfaced regarding the state office of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which operates on Harmu Road. The Housing Board had previously issued notices concerning this matter as well. Officials have stated that investigations into both situations are ongoing, and further actions will depend on the results of these inquiries. They have emphasized that any necessary actions will be taken based on the findings of the investigations.

Efforts to contact Dhoni for comments on this situation have not yielded a response, as he was unavailable for inquiries during the time of reporting. On the sporting front, Dhoni is set to represent Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the upcoming Indian Premier League 2026.
