Indian Army strengthens LoC security with three-tiered grid ahead of Independence Day

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Indian Army has stepped up security along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir by setting up a strong three-tiered counter-infiltration grid in Tangdhar and Kupwara sectors. This enhanced system comes just before Independence Day, aiming to stop any infiltration from across the border and maintain peace for local residents.

Army officials said the troops have a clear mission — ensure zero infiltration. To achieve this goal, the Army is combining advanced surveillance tools, physical barriers, and round-the-clock ground patrolling.

The first tier uses high-tech surveillance. Sophisticated radars, thermal imagers, unmanned aerial vehicles, and helmet or weapon-mounted cameras track movements in real time, even during poor visibility. This technology allows soldiers to quickly detect and monitor any suspicious activity.

The second tier uses an extensive obstacle network. Troops have placed landmines, optic sensors, and other strong barriers in sensitive zones. These make unauthorised entry extremely difficult and risky for intruders.

The third tier puts soldiers directly on the ground. Patrol teams and ambush units operate day and night, dominating the terrain through constant observation and quick response. These units are equipped with bulletproof and all-terrain vehicles, powerful night vision systems, and modern weapons.

With Independence Day approaching, the Army has heightened its vigilance. Every year, forces increase border security during this period. However, this year’s plan combines the latest technology with the discipline and courage of the troops, creating a strong shield along the LoC.

Recently, the Army allowed a small group of journalists into these forward areas. They saw first-hand how well technology and strategy work together on the ground. The upgraded defences send a clear message — India’s borders remain protected, and its soldiers stay ready for any challenge.
