The recent collision between a passenger bus and a bulker truck on National Highway 39, near the Badwar stand in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, resulted in the death of five individuals, while approximately twenty others were injured. The incident occurred on September 2, with the impact forcing the bus off the road and into a ditch.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sorrow regarding the tragic event, extending condolences to the families affected. His sentiments were shared through a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on the social media platform X, where he emphasised the loss of life and conveyed his thoughts to those mourning their loved ones. PM Modi also wished for the quick recovery of the injured individuals.
The PMO communicated, “The loss of lives due to a mishap in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh is saddening. My thoughts are with those who have lost their loved ones. Praying for the swift recovery of the injured.” This official response underlines the gravity of the situation and highlights the government’s commitment to supporting victims and their families.
Following the mishap, local authorities moved swiftly to manage the situation. Collector and District Magistrate Narendra Kumar Suryavanshi provided details regarding the accident, indicating that the bus had veered off the road upon collision, leading to the tragic scenario.
Rescue Operations and Local Involvement
Upon learning of the incident, the Superintendent of Police (SP) was promptly dispatched to the scene to oversee rescue operations. Suryavanshi noted that a coordinated effort involving local residents, rescue teams, and public representatives contributed significantly to the response efforts.
