This statement has garnered support from the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Japan, Canada, Republic of Korea, New Zealand, Denmark, Latvia, Slovenia, Estonia, Norway, Sweden, Czechia, Romania, Bahrain, and Lithuania. The participating nations have called for strict adherence to international law in their response to these provocations.
In a message posted on X, Finnish President Alexander Stubb emphasised Finland’s commitment to stand alongside its international partners regarding the situation in the Persian Gulf. He highlighted the condemnation of Iran’s recent actions against commercial ships and the disruption of maritime activities. Stubb’s statements underscored the unity among the nations involved, expressing their intent to contribute positively to maintaining safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz.

The joint statement articulated strong disapproval of the Iranian attacks on unarmed commercial vessels and highlighted the targeting of civilian infrastructure, including oil and gas facilities. Leaders expressed their deep concern over the escalating tensions in the region, urging Iran to halt its hostile actions such as laying mines, drone strikes, missile attacks, and efforts to obstruct navigation through the Strait. They called for the country to adhere to United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817.
