A 29-year-old engineer, Gaurav Savanni, was found dead on the railway tracks near Usalapur in Bilaspur after allegedly ending his life by jumping in front of a train. Authorities recovered a suicide note at the scene that read, “I have been betrayed in love.”
Savanni had been released on bail just 15 days prior to his death. He had earlier been arrested following a rape allegation filed by his girlfriend—a charge that, according to those close to him, left him emotionally devastated.
Engineer Became Distant in Final Days
Before the tragedy, those around Gaurav began to notice significant changes in his behaviour. His neighbors said he had become distant and avoided social contact entirely. He was described as consistently distressed and withdrawn during his final days.
Close friend Sandeep Gupta stated, “Gaurav was always bright and cheerful, but recent events broke him.” Another friend, Tipsy Makkar, remarked, “In recent days, he did not talk much to anyone and seemed very mentally disturbed.”
From Matrimonial Match to Rape Allegation
The relationship that led to the legal case began on a matrimonial website, where Gaurav met the woman while working in Noida. Their bond reportedly grew stronger over time. However, things escalated when the woman later filed a rape complaint against him.
Police officials confirmed that Gaurav was taken into custody following the allegation and spent some time in jail. After being granted bail, he returned home but appeared deeply troubled.
Investigation Underway
Senior Superintendent of Police Rajnesh Singh said that a detailed investigation is currently underway to determine the circumstances and contributing factors behind the engineer’s death.
The incident has sparked discussion about the emotional toll legal accusations can have on individuals, especially in cases involving personal relationships.
