On September 10, Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar marked the completion of 100 days in his role, reaffirming his government’s dedication to five key welfare initiatives aimed at transforming the lives of citizens. Addressing a gathering at the ‘Drudha Karnatakada Sankalpa’ programme, he underlined the potential impact of these schemes on public confidence and social equity in the state.

Shivakumar outlined the ambitious scope of the Gruha Jyothi, Gruha Lakshmi, Anna Bhagya, Shakti, and Yuva Nidhi schemes, stating they are critical to Karnataka’s future development. He assured attendees that the administration has been successful in implementing these welfare guarantees, with substantial benefits being realised by the populace.

Among the initiatives, the Gruha Lakshmi scheme provides Rs 2,000 monthly to women heads of households, while the Anna Bhagya scheme offers 10 kg of free rice per month to members of Below Poverty Line families. The Shakti scheme facilitates free bus travel for women statewide, and the Yuva Nidhi scheme offers financial support for unemployed graduates and diploma holders.

Employment Initiatives and Educational Reservations Announced

During his address, Shivakumar introduced measures aimed at boosting job opportunities in rural Karnataka and ensuring better educational outcomes. He announced the launch of the ‘Udyoga Sethu’ platform, designed to connect job seekers with private companies, allowing students to register for potential job openings.

He explained that this initiative would facilitate tailored training aligned with the requirements of various industries, enhancing employability among the youth. The Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara and Minister Sharan Prakash Patil are tasked with overseeing the implementation of this platform.

In addition to employment initiatives, Shivakumar noted that the government has decided to allocate a 15 per cent reservation for students from government schools in rural areas, aiming to improve access to education for underprivileged communities.

Commitment to Visible Change and Future Development

Shivakumar emphasised the importance of the five welfare schemes as part of the broader mandate from the citizens of Karnataka. He expressed the administration’s unwavering commitment to instigate visible improvements in the lives of residents across the state.

He stated, “This is not solely my government; it represents the people of Karnataka.” He reinforced a vision for social progress and a determination to advance Karnataka towards substantial development. His expression of accountability reflects an effort to maintain public trust in the administration.

Taking office on June 3 following strategic discussions within the Congress party regarding leadership changes, Shivakumar has vowed to lead the state towards prosperous outcomes, convinced of the potential embodied in the aspirations of the youth and a stronger Karnataka.
