Delhi Based CAIT Announces Boycott on Turkey and Azerbaijan

Delhi-based Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has announced that it will boycott all trade with Turkey and Azerbaijan, after the two countries supported Pakistan in the recent India-Pakistan cross-border conflict. The announcement was made on Friday by 125 leaders at a National Conference of Trade Leaders, convened by CAIT and led by BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal.

It was also decided to discourage Indian traders from engaging with companies from Turkey and Azerbaijan, along with stopping all imports and exports between the two countries. Travel companies were also urged not to take bookings for travel to the two countries.

“A memorandum will be submitted to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Ministry of External Affairs, urging policy-level review of all commercial ties with these nations,” according to a statement from CAIT

Turkey’s Remarks

Amid growing calls across India to boycott Turkey and Azerbaijan, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has once again expressed strong support for Pakistan. He referred to the Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif as his “dear brother” and pledged continued solidarity “in good times and bad”.

His remarks came in response to a post by PM Sharif thanking Turkey for its backing after India’s Operation Sindoor, a counter-terror operation launched after the deadly Pahalgam terror attack that was allegedly backed by Pakistan.
