CM Dhami Inaugurates Self-Help Group Stalls in Dehradun

On August 24, 2026, Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami, inaugurated stalls established by self-help groups as part of the Mukhyamantri Sashakt Behna Utsav Yojana in Dehradun. The event highlights the state government’s commitment to promoting women’s empowerment by offering livelihood opportunities. CM Dhami visited the various stalls, motivating the women involved in these groups and acknowledging their contributions to local economic development.

During his visit, CM Dhami purchased rakhis crafted by the women from self-help groups, commending their skills and diligent efforts. He expressed that such initiatives not only provide income but also enhance the status of women in society. Many women reportedly benefited from this scheme last year, showcasing its impactful role in their lives.

The Chief Minister’s engagement with the self-help groups aims to further reinforce the government’s objectives of women’s upliftment and self-sufficiency in the region. He emphasised the importance of continuing support for these initiatives to create sustainable development opportunities for women.

Participation in Raksha Bandhan Celebrations

On the preceding day, August 23, CM Dhami actively participated in two Raksha Bandhan events in Dehradun, celebrating the festival with numerous women in attendance. The first ceremony took place at Chaudhary Farms, followed by another event at Survey Stadium, located in Hathibarkala. At both locations, women tied Rakhis on the Chief Minister’s wrist and conveyed their good wishes for his health and longevity.

In his addresses during these celebrations, CM Dhami conveyed heartfelt Raksha Bandhan greetings to mothers and sisters across Uttarakhand. He expressed gratitude for the affection shown to him, stating that the warmth and trust he receives from the women empower him in his public service. He emphasised that these interactions make him feel as if he has returned to his own family and home.

CM Dhami further elaborated on the essence of Raksha Bandhan, explaining that the festival signifies not only the bond between brothers and sisters but also embodies a lifelong commitment to protect and care for one another. He outlined that such relationships are strengthened through responsibilities, urging individuals to value both rights and duties within family ties.

Emphasis on Respect for Women in Society

Addressing the significance of the festival, CM Dhami highlighted the crucial role of respecting women as integral to cultural values and societal progress. He articulated that respect for women should be a fundamental principle, underpinning every community and ensuring prosperity. He stated, “A society that respects women is genuinely prosperous and cultured,” reiterating the importance of nurturing strong, respectful relationships. CM Dhami’s remarks underscore a commitment to fostering an environment where women’s rights and contributions are acknowledged and celebrated.
