The CSR Journal Magazine

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications for its Summer Research Fellowship Programme (SRFP) for the year 2026. This initiative offers a short-term research opportunity for undergraduate and postgraduate students from outside the institute. The programme is designed to span eight weeks, running from May 13 to July 13, 2026. The application process commenced on March 16 and will conclude on April 3, 2026. A list of successful candidates will be published in May.

Overview of the Fellowship

This fellowship aims to provide students with an opportunity to engage in innovative research under the mentorship of IIT Delhi faculty. The institution has highlighted this programme on its official platforms, describing it as a chance for exceptionally talented students to work on pioneering research and development projects. Students selected for this fellowship will receive several benefits during their stay.

Financial and Accommodation Support

IIT Delhi will cover train travel within India in sleeper class for selected candidates. The institute will also provide accommodation in campus hostels alongside boarding and lodging services. Furthermore, students will receive a weekly fellowship of Rs 2,000. Students will register as visiting students and are exempt from paying the registration fee, although they will need to arrange for their own insurance for the duration of their stay.

Eligibility Criteria for Applicants

The fellowship is open to undergraduate students, excluding those enrolled at IIT Delhi, who have completed at least two years of their engineering degree and are ranked among the top ten in their program. For postgraduate applicants, specifically MTech and ME students not from IIT Delhi, eligibility requires completion of at least one semester, being in the top ten ranks, and achieving a minimum of 70 percent marks or a CGPA of 7.00 on a 10-point scale. All candidates must be from institutions outside IIT Delhi.

Application Process

Interested applicants can apply through the official SRFP portal on the IIT Delhi website. The application requires filling out an online form and uploading necessary documents. Photographs must be in JPG format, measuring 200×230 pixels, and limited to a maximum of 100 KB. Additionally, applicants need to submit a consolidated grade card and a rank certificate in PDF format. A No Objection Certificate from their parent institution is also necessary, specifying the duration for which they will be engaged in research work at IIT Delhi. It is essential for all documents to be clear and legible; otherwise, they may face rejection. No printed copies are required, but selected candidates must provide original documents upon joining.

Roles and Responsibilities of Selected Students

Students awarded the fellowship will execute a research project under the supervision of IIT Delhi faculty. They will function as visiting students throughout the eight-week programme and contribute to ongoing research and development activities. Additionally, they must attend the institute on approved dates, as designated by both their parent institution and IIT Delhi. This structured programme aims to enhance students’ research experience while providing financial support and the opportunity to collaborate closely with IIT Delhi faculty members. As the application deadline approaches on April 3, 2026, candidates are encouraged to organize their documents and submit their applications promptly.
